A big nation wide radio station here in Finland just reported musicradar`s poll result and Axl`s 1st place in their broadcast news!

It went something like this: "The all-time greatest singers (editor`s note: yep, they missed the "lead singer in a band" -part Smiley ) have now been put in order by a poll organized by musicradar.com. And the winner is.........(a few secs Axl singing "Sweet child o mine")......Axl Rose from Guns n roses!"
Freddie Mercury, Ronnie James Dio, John Lennon and a few other big names were also mentioned.

It was all positive and I think will bring good positive attention and recognition to Axl.

This musicradar`s poll result seems to be turning into much bigger news than I ever thought it will. At least many tens of thousands of radio listeners in Finland will hear this news. Earlier somebody here wrote that the result was reported in Norwegian media also.  And these are just 2 examples that we have heard of.
So what we seem to have here is world wide news which is announcing Axl as "all-time greatest (lead) singer)"!!!!

And I could not think of a better timing for this, with so many thing going great with GNR lately...........the momentum just keeps on building.

Thats's exactly what I meant when I said it's worth doing, what harm can it do. If anything, it will create positive news for GN'R for a change. I can't believe some people came into this thread to (1) state they can't be arsed to vote, or (2) to state they are voting for another candidate.

I would always vote for Axl because he is my favourite singer ever, and that's never going to change.  ok

Congratulations to Axl and everyone who helped remind people who the best ever frontman is!!!!!!!!!!!  Grin

The public have spoken, and we can?t think of a more contentious choice for the greatest lead singer of all time. Forget the moustachioed, cornrowed croaking caricature of recent years and think back to the late 1980s. Axl Rose: dangerous, lean, angry, confrontational, controversial;

Some people will always find something to bitch about.

Looks like they should have their asses kicked properly since they've missed it so much.  Roll Eyes

Actually, they just did (get their asses kicked)...........Axl won!!!!
This poll culminates in that single fact, and that is the 1 thing that people will remember about this. Everything else is just meaningless sour whining!!!

The message lots and lots of people will hear it on the radio or read it in web-pages or magazines is: "Axl Rose, the all-time greatest (lead) singer".

I am quite happy about this Smiley

This was mentioned on the news of Planet Rock radio here in the UK. It's also one of the headlines on their website, here is a link to the actual news article they posted - http://www.planetrock.co.uk/Article.asp?id=2050086&spid=35830
(below that are some stupid comments from people who don't agree with Axl winning!)

Amazing news coverage, Planet Rock is a major music editorial.  ok

The people below are just the usual stupid idiots you find everywhere. The fact is Axl is the greatest lead singer ever, after a poll, which ran for a month. People had the opportunity to vote worldwide, and Axl came out winner, so fuck all the haters.  yes

I always said that this was a huge poll, and it is no surprise that so many media outlets have picked it up.  The greatest drummer poll was even discussed on BBC Radio 5 during the drive time slot - and they interviewed other musicians and magazine editors about the results.

I think some people don't realise how big MusicRadar is - so here are some insider official official November stats for the site:

Global page views - 5,122,364
Global unique users - 763,616

UK page views - 1,959,907
UK unique users -173,203

It's pretty much one of the biggest 'music makers' website in the world.

Yes, we had a thread going for over a month and all of the users and myself helped make Axl the winner rightfully so. Maybe you remember, or?.  Cheesy

Seriously, it makes me angry when someone tries to take credit for posting a news story about Axl. When we as a forum, helped make that news headline happen, whilst this same user was not seen for dust.  rant

Maybe it's just me, but hey.  ok

At first I didn't really know what where the results would lead to, since musicradar didn't really put it very positively in words...
Though a month later other media seems to be picking it up and it seems to be getting positive after all.

Hell even MTV mentioned GN'R again and are not bitching the usual crap we get to hear and read.

Here's the article...  they couldn't resist to put the curly top hat dude first though...

Quote
Guns 'N' Roses

The 'Gunners' sent fans hearts racing across Australia with the news that, as well as performing an exclusive gig at the V8 Supercar Championship in Sydney, they would be playing a string of dates in other cities across the country!

Iconic frontman Axl Rose was joined by the current line-up of Tommy Stinson, Dizzy Reed, Bumblefoot, Chris Pitman, DJ Ashba, Richard Fortus and Frank Ferrer for gigs in Townsville, Adelaide and Perth.

The pyro-heavy live show included all their classic back catalogue tracks such as 'Welcome To The Jungle,' 'Live And Let Die' and 'Sweet Child Of Mine' as well as a host of new hits off their latest album 'Chinese Democracy'.

Supported by metal icons Korn, the shows were a welcome return to form for the band and a definite highlight on the 2010 rock calendar.

Why you say he's not been around for 14 years? What about 1999, 2001, 2006, 2009, 2010 ! Did you missed out on something?
Very much agree on Bruce though !
