The "easiest" way as far as I can tell to organize something like this is to take a "regular" show and turn it into a "fans only" show...

Let's say there's a show in a smaller more intimate venue. Then you have a pre-sale or provide some kind of logistics to make sure the fans get the tickets first.

Could be a fan club thing or something similar....

First of all, that is a great idea. I wasn't sure I understood it at first, but what you're saying (if my interpretation is correct), is that the band would be booked on a normal tour-like basis, but at an intimate venue.

A general sale event, at a venue of small capacity, with a fan-based presale.

Not only are the hardcore fans catered for, but the venue is sure to sell out due to the general sale which would follow.

Finally, on your point about finding a venue, band being on tour etc...

Perhaps this would be best done in conjunction with the band's next World tour or US tour. Whether this is 2011/2012/2013/2014 or beyond, shouldn't matter too much. It's not like we're going anywhere.

I hope there's enough credibility and desire here to make this happen somewhere down the line.

Jarmo's comment pretty much sounds like what they did for Hammerstein.  I think the only add on we could do is a preshow meet and greet, private party for us HTGTH members and our guests.

a private show for the fans? that'll never happen.

but my vote is for Vegas baby!!

Vegas is the way forward.

------------

and just to add an idea to the streaming thing.

put a higher price to the live stream, which includes a fully edited pro shot of the show on dvd/blu ray & CD. Sent out after editing and only available to those buying the stream in the first place.

« Reply #70 on: November 02, 2010, 06:24:43 PM »

heres a idea! Grin
we should take somebody like mtv to sponsor the gig and make it on air when it happens (like paris 92) and make a gnr contest to the private show that way mtv can make some money and pay something like organisation
and the private part would be to the ??real?? fans

The only way it would possibly work is if it is something like what Jarmo has said and even then it will be very difficult and GNR management would have to be in charge. Any other way would simply not work as everyone would want the show in a certain part of the world and then there would be the problem of collecting the money for it. A million bucks is a lot of money to collect and you really can't  trust just anybody to collect it.

Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing.

You can't ask Europeans to travel to USA and vice versa and that's a problem for a lot of people. (including myself)

But you never know, if you manage to get GN'R to agree on something like this there's a start.

After that anything goes.

Maybe they can stream it live on HTGTH?  and only board members can watch it.   That way everyone can get a chance to see it cause we have such a diverse fan base from all of the world.  Otherwise I vote for NYC!  I am still not over missing out on those  secret shows earlier this year..  no

holy shit i read it here and i thought the article said playing shows here in NY it was really the happiest day of my life until i clicked on it i saw it already happend and it was a private show i was so sad then

if they tour in America they should have a pre sale here on HTGTH so we know that real fans are going to these shows

And it would be cool a live broadcasting for those who can't attend to the 'only-for-fans' show (which is going to be in U.S.A. I guess)

A soundboard recording of the show would be AWESOME

Intimate gig with fan-based pre-sale on the next US/World Tour.

Lets run with Jarmo's idea shall we, and see what we can achieve  ok

I think the safest idea (in many ways) is Jarmo's.

The fan-only presale has been done before through this site.

There could be 2 different shows, one in NYC for the fans from the US and one in London for the European fans...

I wouldn't trust any stranger online with 1000 euros... Imagine, this could become the biggest scam ever...

I for one would love for something like this to happen someday.

I agree also with what jarmo said, in the US maybe a venue like the Joint in Vegas, or Hammerstein in NY. And in Europe, I think it would be cool to have the Hammersmith Apollo in London as the venue.

It really makes a difference to a show to how the crowd behave, just like we discovered in the Manchester show not long ago. There is nothing more exciting to be in a crowd full of hardcore Gunners, rocking out together to GN'R.

The best atmosphere I have experienced as far as that goes so far, is in las Vegas, at the Joint shows in 06.

This sound excellent.  I would be in at $1000...maybe more depending on the type of event, access to band, etc
