So here's the situation:

I'm buying a iPhone 4.

I can get the 16GB one at a fair price right away and the 32GB in like 2 months at almost the same price.

Did any of you have experience with both? Is 16GB enough for someone who only keeps GN'R music (all albums + soome bootlegs (video and audio), roughly around 1GB)? I assume apps won't take much space (let's say 500 MB or even 1GB), I still got 14 GB left for photos and video recording.

I'm not sure how much memory the photos and videos are going to take away from me, since it's a 5 megapixel camera and it supports HD video recording.

I don't record much but can someone tell me how much does 10 minutes of HD recording take (in megabytes)?

So basically the only thing that's keeping me from getting the 16GB one is the 2 months I have to wait for the 32GB version.

What do guys think?

Well, I have a 3GS with 16 GB and it's enough to me. But with video recording at 720p (I guess the format is .MOV) you'll have to go bigger indeed.

I can actually record a 10 min HD video here with my wife's iPod touch 4G and see how big it comes out, if you really want.

Yup, it is .mov format and I read somewhere that it takes around 118 megabytes for 1 minute of HD recording.

If you could confirm that it would be nice.  ok

But like I said I ain't gonna use it primarily for HD video recording, so I think 16GB is going to be just enough for me.

Sure thing, no need to rush it.

Thanks a lot!  ok

32 for sure, I was torn between the two and am glad I spent the extra hundred.  It sucks only being able to sync part of your library with a 16 gig.

I'm leaning towards the 32GB version.

After all it's a lot more than 16GB and I just have to wait for it for 50+ days.

Ok, sorry for taking that much time. I recorded 10:12 of HD (720p) video in my wife's 8GB iPod Touch 4G and it ended up with 768 MB (786.595 KB). I tried to use different lights (my room, the TV LCD and PSP screens and the LED screen of my notebook) with different kind of motion to take an average recording.

Even though my wife's iPod has only 8 GB, I still think the recording of videos wouldn't be much of a problem as we always put them on the PC anyways. So, I say you're safe with the 16 GB iPhone as long as you don't keep the videos on the device for much long. Otherwise (or if you don't really wanna care about that), buy the 32 GB instead. Smiley

Thanks for the effort, Voodoo! Smiley

In the end I have decided to get the 32 GB one after all.

Like Cotis said - you can't go wrong with going big.

Have to wait for it a month and a half though. Grin

Good move. I dunno how it is there, but here in Brazil you should already put your name in the waiting list because we're kinda running out of those little fuckers in stores. Tongue

Yeah, it's almost the same here in Croatia. I'm already on the waiting list.

They get a package of them every 2-3 months and they had a few 16GB ones left since a few people gave up on them. I'm told in the next package they'll be getting the 32GB ones.

Just need some patience I guess.  Smiley
