Interview with Keith Nelson of Buckcherry

Published: October 6, 2010

Keith Nelson the band?s co-founder, guitarist and now producer, sat down with Robert Cavuoto to discuss their latest release, touring, and what it takes to appeal to the masses.

Rob: What do you say to people who compare you musically to Guns & Roses?

Keith: I find it very flattering. It?s one of the bands that influenced us. Appetite for Destruction will always be one of our all-time favorite LPs. If someone wants to compare us to them, I?ll take it as a complement.

Not a bad band, saw them open for KISS N' they put on a good show..
Rolling Stone had a review of their new album:
"Ever sit around watching the BP oil disaster in the Gulf and wonder what the guys who sang Crazy Bitch think about this? Wonder no more BC cover their thoughts of enviremental disaster on Our World."
They would be a fine compiment to Baz/GN'R...

When I first heard "Lit Up" by Buckcherry in 99, I thought that they were the next generation of bluesy hard rock. I think their songs are pretty good. I can definitely hear the GNR influence in their songs.  It's a good comparison.

i disagree. buckcherry is a dime a dozen band. i've seen them many times as openers for other bands & thats what they are, openers. they are generic rock. i wouldnt even compare them to la guns. thats a slap in gnr's face comparing them.

I've listened to them and fail to see the comparison.

Well, apparently the comparison has been made.

Buckcherry who broke onto the national scene in 1999 returns. "I am playing the hell out of it. It combines all the best elements of Aerosmith and Guns N Roses in their prime" - Eddie Trunk (Q104 NYC syndicated radio host and VH1 Classic on-air personality).

And:

Buckcherry offer the same danger and strip-club titillation of an earlier L.A. band, Guns N? Roses.

I'm not making the comparison, just pointing out that a comparison has been made.

Buckcherry's guitar player was asked what he says to PEOPLE who compare them musically to GNR.  He says he finds it flattering and that GNR was an influence.

I don't see how a negative spin can be put on that -- but apparently it can. hihi
