Things are going GREAT with GNR

Bottom line: Almost everything seems to be going increasingly well with gnr lately. They have now got such a great positive momentum.
Axl is, of course, the key here. Axl clearly is feeling great nowadays. He seems to be in very good mood all the time, chats with audience etc. I also strongly think he has lost quite a few extra ponds lately. His voice has probably never sounded better. He also has now got that same (positive kind of) "aggression" back in his eyes AND his singing that he had in the "old gnr era".
All of these thing are of course related and, in my opinion, lead to Guns n roses BEING at the very top of their game AND feeling like it AND people (audiences/listeners) seem to really been noticing this: 1) Sold out shows, 2) in Finland (iTunes) right now Gnr greatest hits No 8 best selling rock album, Chinese democracy No 20, for comparison: Iron maiden: Final frontier (their new 8/2010 album) No 36), 3) GNR facebook has been gaining >700 new fans per hour lately.
Exciting to see what will happen when the current world tour is over. With all this positive energy in the band and especially Axl....I think the chances of totally new songs, even album, have never looked better.

Great post, and I think that's a fair reflection of how most of us are feeling at the minute.
It seems the band are winning fans left, right & centre at the minute, and that can only be a good thing.
I sincerely hope they channel the positivity that surrounds them at the moment into something other than a long haitus when they end their time on the road.

Its kinda funny when you remember the 2002 era (please, Im not comparing members!), when we everything seemed about to blow up any second - and it kinda did.
Now its a totally different scenario and everything seems fine. I mean, the mood, the peace of mind and even with the fans (less whining, I guess). I just hope they keep it up that way and beyond.

Yeah, Voodoo, but I think the moment is so different.. Chinese Democracy, for better or worse, is released... It's there on your Itunes ou preferable shelf.
Back then I think the pressure on the band was much much much higher, as it was in 2006, causing the cancelation of some concerts.

Although I agree with the feeling of general optimism with the band, I think the biggest test will be when they return to England under the scrutiny of the UK press, waiting for a repeat of Reading. If they can pass that test with a performance we know they usually give, and avoid peeing off Classic Rock/Q/The NME (who still have power with Sheep music listeners), I can see them actually getting a bit of respect as more than 'a band without Slash in it', which the average journo can't move past.
Fingers crossed.

These comments sound like a vroken record. How often has someones said this? He does sound good, but never has had a stretch of sounding awfuly.

Surprise surprise.... It's amazing what can be received by the viewing public when the odd asshole in the audience isn't throwing shit at the band. I really hope that the remaining shows don't attract these morons and leave the the band and fans to have a ball...
Maybe, just maybe the UK press in the O2 will finally get it, just keep Axl sweet and he becomes the Candyman, delivering the type of show that the public want. The problem with the press/media is that they only listen to their self grandiose pre-conceptions and believe in what they report is fact, if they were to step back a step or two and write about what they see and hear the truth would be "less fashionable" than their hyper vitriolic dirge that they feel is what the readers want to view and it isn't. If they were to pick up their pen after the intro, instead of the moment they reach the venue, they'd discover that the truth is indeed stranger than fiction...

The press thing is really a matter of prejudice, but that rathers displays what some loudy whiners love to brag about. In the 90's, my ex-boss got famous in the music media here in Brazil just because he said Axl had lost his voice and was fat (again, that was 1991!!!).
In the S?o Paulo gig in March, I saw some critics saying Axl had lost his voice. Funny thing they didn't mention he was sick and still delivered an incredible performance. Even today, when they were just repeating the shit about Reading, the Brazilian press "reminded" how the band started "3 hours late" here in S?o Paulo - of course they didn't include the warm-up bands and Sebastian Bach, leaving the reader thinking the audience actually waited that much doing nothing.
One thing comes to my mind, though: I wanted to write a review of the S?o Paulo gig, but had problems with my old company (although a friend of mine wrote a really positive review of the gig where I worked). But positive press about Guns N' Roses aren't really well recieved by editors because it has no controversy, therefore it can't sell. That's sad, but that's how it works with people here.
Still, I keep trying. Whenever I have a chance to show some respect to the band in an article, I do it. Not only because I love this band, but also because they deserve it too.

I know, that's what I implied. Even fans bitching about whatever is less common now.

And your point was....
What DO sound like a broken record, are the posters who have no point whatsoever, but only try to bring in some negativity (or anti-positivity in this case, if you like).

I think you have to see all tours within there context, 2006 tour was a damn fine tour as well.
This tour top's it though, feels good to see them enjoying the tour.
I wish the press was a bit more kindly though.

Here in Serbia, after show everything changed. Before the show there were bad previews and coments but after the show everything changed. In main papers gnr got lot of spaces and good and very positive reviews and coments. After that amazing show everythig goin better. In every review you can read how Axl is good, and how other members are good musicians.

As long as they are performing, and the fans are both interested and satisfied afterwards...there really is nothing else that can be asked of the band at this point.
All of the other soap opera shit means nothing. I think a lot of people thought Axl Rose would just melt away after finally releasing CD, and quite the opposite seems to be occuring.

Doubt Axl ever paid much attention to the media. I think that the increase in Axl's performance and "look in his eyes" can be traced back to the people surrounding him. He has a fit cast of able musicians which makes his job easier. It's like being the manager of a retail store and having a crappy staff. Good supporting cast means more time for Axl to focus on AXL. All in all, Guns is got the ball ROLLING right now!

That's part of it, though I don't think anyone could argue that previous members such as Bucket and Brain were not "able musicians"... it's probably a bit about the current lineup appreciating what they are a part of and showing that enthusiasm
