Drum solos, when done well, can be the highlight of a concert for me.  It's awesome that each of the guitarists get solos because it's a wonderful way to introduce them to the audiences.  But I really hope that at least once this tour, Frank gets a solo too.  Quite simply, he is an amazing drummer and I wish we could hear more from him!

I must admit he did impress me at Leeds. The drummer always gets forgotten about which is a shame cos frank is fucking awesome and he deserves to be in the spotlight

I'm a drummer myself and I can't think of anything in a rock concert that gets as boring as a drum solo!

If the band would jam along and he would be in the spotlight, doing fills and stuff, that might work (kinda like the beginning of Scraped live)...

Just the drums (as just the guitars) is as boring and painful as pulling teeth. (In my opinion, of course)

You must've never been to a Van Halen concert.  Alex's solo is incredible!!!

Our Frank is an amazing talent ..... plus he loves us!!!  Grin
You can see in the youtubes and booties that Frank puts his heart n' soul not only into his drumming but also into being part of GNR.

A Frank Ferrer drum solo would be an awesome addition to the set!!!  headbanger

Matt's a decent drummer but when he solo's its like walking into a production factory and you can hear all the machines at once and your head starts ringing  hihi

I see no reason why Frank should not get a Drum solo, he is more than capable given his ability. I saw Brain do a Drum solo at Rock In Lisbon 06, and it was very well recieved by the crowd.

I think it would be a cool thing to add just before YCBM, or maybe before Scraped.

Frank may just prefer to join in on the in between song jams, rather than having his own solo spot. I also officially endorse Chris Pitman getting a solo spot, in all seriousness I bet he could pull off some really mindblowing effects.  Cool

Im all in favour of drum and guitar solo's but im not sure about the synth solo  Undecided pitmans good at what he does dont get me wrong, and he's a great addition to the band, but it would be like watching jean michel jarre and not GnR - i Just dont think it would fit in

It was meant to actually be a half hearted suggestion.  Smiley

Maybe if it was done as a Pitman Keyboard solo, then Chris could add little Synth effects here and there. Thus making it a Synth solo, who knows maybe it would work.

Back to Frank, I was saying in the Frank appreciation thread how far he has come since his first GN'R show in Graspop. He seems to just fit in like a glove, always complimenting the other musicians.

I loved how he and Axl wanted to get the last note of November Rain at Reading. I'm just thankfull he was in Honky Toast with Richard, which meant that Richard knew how awesomely gifted he was.

GN'Rs Lucky to have him onboard.  Smiley

I'd actually be in favour of the solo spots being drastically reduced. I don't want to take anything way from the guys, all of whom are fantastic players. I've just never found solo spots, at any concert, very enjoyable. ESPECIALLY drum solos.

If Axl needs breaks during the show (to change his shirt, take a blast from his oxygen tank or whatever), then I'd prefer to see the band do a song with someone else on lead (like Tommy's covers of 'My Generation' and 'Sonic Reducer', for example).

Do a quick solo in the middle of a song like Matt Cameron does for Pearl Jam in Even Flow

Honestly, to be fair I think everyone at least deserves to solo.  We get to hear Bumblefoot solo at every show, which is awesome, but we never get to hear others.

On the other hand, seven solos a night would probably be on the high side for some.  Maybe they could just have five solo spots per night and swap them off.

All I know is that I'm ready to hear what Frank could do with a proper drum solo!

I agree with this.  The solos kill the momentum of the show.  And they should do something like my generation.  Ron said in several interviews he hates doing solos so he tries to cone up with something people can relate to.

No more drumsolos please, Frank you rock! But I think the set-sequence they do now works.

A bit heavy on soft songs and I hope more hard songs like OMG, Silk Worms, Shacklers but they got the best working setlist for me at least, keeping the momentum throughout the gig.
