I always had a question.. the end of Don't Cry is that real or studio dubbed? I honestly think its real...his cardio i think he can really hold that.

I think its a bit of both - it does sound like some effects have been mixed onto his true voice.

His 2002 voice was fine for songs like "Street Of Dreams" or "Madagascar" but 2002 voice has nothing to do against 2007 and 2009-2010 voice.

It's very real, Shannon Hoon once said he watched Axl record that. honestly it's very easy to pull off, I can do it with ease and stay on key.

Video or work
I think in 02 maybe he didn't want to throw his voice out cause he was recording maybe?? I know 2006 was a great moment when he came out with his old school voice. was very relieved.
I know ive read in past magazines how he really got into weightlifting and u can def see the results compared from 87-88 to the UYI tour... he had an NFL rb type lower body esp. quads and hamstrings.
I remember reading a quote from Anthony Kiedis saying that he didn't work out that onstage singing while moving was the best workout ever... so i guess all the shows etc Axl did just built up the activity specific stamina.
u figure over a 3 hour show.. he probably ran covered anywhere from 10-15 miles a night on those massive stages.

Yeah, I used to try and keep up with Axl whenever I heard the studio version. It's difficult at first, but if you take in the appropriate amount of air, it's not all that hard.
Now the first few verses of TWAT. THAT'S tough to pull off. Probably why they don't perform the song live much. I think I've gotten through that without having to stop once, MAYBE.

WHAT??
U are doing the proper breathing then..there's plenty of quick breath moments in TWAT.
That isn't no where as difficult as holding the end of Dont Cry for over a minute straight...

For me it is. Maybe I'm better at holding a note, then getting down the proper breathing. TWAT is damn near impossible for ME to pull off without running out of breath. "Don't Cry" is relatively easy. Alright, maybe not easy. But less difficult, for ME.

just sayin there are plenty of air breaks in TWAT. right after cigarettes. the part up to "Everything" good breath take after "everything" can be tough but shouldn't be if u can do the dont cry ending
it isn't easy don't get me wrong but am a little shocked people make the ending of Don't Cry out to be easy... is truly surprising..

I think they should of overdubbed some nice female moaning sounds into the intro of Riad, like some real vicious ones to go with the 'ohhhhhhhhhhhhh oh ohhhhhhhhhhhh' would of tied in perfectly.

Same here....it's more about endurance than anything...just let as little air out as possible, and it can be done....
