From INMUSIC:

http://inmusic.ca/photos/themes/Articles/underrated_albums.htm?feedname=INMUSIC_UNDERRATEDALBUMS&pos=3&nolookup=true

Chinese Democracy, Guns N Roses (2008): There was NO WAY this album wasn't going to be underrated - too much waiting, too much hype, too much pessimism/guarded optimism. 'Chinese Democracy' sold 5 million copies, which would be awesome for most bands but we're talking about GNR here. It's not a masterpiece but the vocals are great, the musical experimentation is highly sophisticated and the whole thing is bombastic and utterly unapologetically power pop metal. So clearly a labour of love it would be ungenerous not to give it its due. (credit: Album Art)

Good to see someone with a NON-Biased view giving CD the credit it deserves- %90 of the people bashing it never gave it a chance & those that did realized it was just damn good music, period. beer

In time it will be viewed with more respect by a wider audience of professional and amateur critics.  Kind of like Beastie Boys Pauls Boutique.

I was kinda hoping that it would be re-released, with perhaps a couple of bonus tracks, maybe live or acoustic versions of the songs, or even OMG and get this baby promoted properly... yes

I appreciate fine art in all forms, I appreciate Chinese Democracy and respect Axl for all his efforts, and it took many, and also finally letting it be a part of our lives, for those who haven't given it a fair chance or no chance at all are clearly missing out on some pretty outstanding musical talent.  He is genious in my book Smiley.

I think one ingredient that is necessary in order to secure CD's legacy, is that GNR will need to put out new product in the coming years.  If they stay in people's conscienceness, then we can look back not just at the AFD and UYI era, but look back at CD and real begin to appreciate Axl and the band's genius over a sustained period.

That's just plain a great word to describe the album: "underrated"

To me, the album is the definition of that term. Even if you don't love the entire thing, I really feel that there is at least "something for everyone". And although I don't think their (GNR) intention was to do so, they real produced an album that is accessible to many different types of music listeners. For one or all of the reasons listed in this article, many people never gave it a chance.

Except Motley Crue have balls in their music and cannot be compared.

Except Cinderella actually can play their instruments and made alot of great blues rock.

Poison and Warrant can be put in the same category as cheese pop metal though.

Motley Crue has balls? Yea I guess.... its just these bands have nothing NOTHING going on artistically speaking. I would never... never fucking ever say that these bands are artists. "Artists" is a word that is way to overused. Just because you are in a band and have a following doesn't mean you are an artist. Its like the word Pornstar. Its like any bitch who fucks is a pornstar these days.

Axl fucking Rose is an actual artist and he proves that time and time again.

I like this description. Smiley

I'm not sure how willing I'd be to give a few of the other albums on the list a chance, but nice to see CD get a mention.
