Izzy walks his own path always and never plays footsies in any way with the newest musical fad or craze. He fucking ROCKS! Plain and simple.

Duff said it about as well as it can be said. Izzy's the man.

Love how the guys are still keeping in touch to make music together here and there. Duff played on this album, and Slash's. Slash had Izzy/Duff and even Steven. Slash is rumored to have contributed to Adler's Appetite next album. It's good to see they haven't forgotten that they can still make good music together still even 25 years after they first hooked up. Now that Steven's cleaned up his act and got sober they have all really come out the other side. They're all at seemingly at good places in their lives. 2010 has definitely been a good year for ex-Gunners.

After listening several times now, I find the album to be a big grower, gets better with each spin. I find the production to be much better then Smoke which was kinda muffled, Izzy's voice ain't as understandable as on the older albums but I think that's more got to do with his vocal style these days - softer and more airy, not loud or screaming anymore since Like A Dog.
Anyways the songs are pretty simple, a bit more southern rock sounding and they're getting more catchy with each spin. Lyrics seem to be less repetitive and more clever, though the style of the latest albums don't really focus much on the lyrics, more the vibe. Clever like the old albums, no, but definetly more clever then on Smoke. Though Comfort Zone and Snow were pretty strong on that one.

All in all I find it to be a pretty fresh and upbeat sounding album, easy listening and not a drag at all. This will get me going for a year and hopefully next year new album, seems like Izzy really found his pace now - writing / demoing / recording at home probably also helps alot. Also with this one you can say again that with each new album there's a new sound, no remakes or anything with a slight change of style like usual - yet at the same time it's the same type of music as always.

Reading the gear info that's pretty cool too (I guess the higher powers are reading this forum  Wink ), I find it funny that on Like A Dog, Miami, Concrete, Smoke and now also Wave Of Heat Izzy is using this small Fender Pro Jr. amp. Which is all-tube and 'only' 15W, has like 3 knobs on it Cheesy

Seems like this amp has become his standard 'get-to-go' amp along with his black Gibson ES-135 guitar. He used this guitar and amp also on 'Ghost' on the Slash album. Also interesting to see Rick using only Gibsons and Marshalls this time, using the JCM2000 DSL401 combo he also used on Miami and now also the Vintage Modern (which Slash also used for a few years during Velvet Revolver). I expected a bigger tone difference between Izzy and Rick. Izzy also does a few solos here and there (as described in the info about using the Fender Super Sonic), for example the solos on 'Rollin Rollin'.

For the rest is it me or does the studio of Brotheryn looks alot like Flower studios (Zirkon Skye before that) where Concrete and Smoke were recorded? Maybe a revamp or something..

Anyways my favorites at this point are 'Old Tune', 'Rollin Rollin', 'Waiting For Me Ride', 'Raven' and 'Texas'. Cool
