How long do the headliners at Sturgis usually play for? Just wondering if this is gonna be a full 3 hour show, or if they'll have to cut it down to an hour and a half or something?
Not sure, but they are closing the show so it's not like they'll have to finish at a certain time so another band can go on.  No idea about curfews or anything though.

Outdoor venues are usually a little stricter on the curfew due to noise bylaws etc. I saw Iron Maiden at the Amphitheater in Toronto a few weeks ago and was shocked at how early they went on - they were done by 10:30. Full set, awesome show but I'm guessing that's why.

Noise from GNR vs the roar of lord knows how many motorcycles?  GNR is going to lose.  Nobody cares about the noise level up there.  It's the sound of money for that area, they love it.  hihi

So it's Friday the 13th?  Maybe they better be a few hours late taking the stage.  Cheesy

Yeah Friday the 13th. lol
{I think} as the closers gnr will pretty much get to deside how long they play. the show is on the outskirts of the city from what i can tell so I don't think they have a curfew. Believe me I know the city and the people that don't want too hear the noise actually leave town for the week. A lot of people rent out there yards and homes ahead of time for campers. I have friends that for years rented a couples yard and than got use of the water and such in the house.

I'll be there too - making the trip from St. Louis!
I tweeted at the Rock n Rev account about the start time - saying "Are you serious the show starts at 6? Cuz Axl ain't outta bed 'til 9."
They responded, saying "Opener at 6, Alice in Chains goes on at 8:30, and Guns 10:30 - but you should take a nap cuz it'll probably be a late night!"

So I'd guess they're giving gnr some leeway.

For all those who keep wondering: Why are they playing in Sturgis and not in (insert US city)...

You might wanna consider the fact that this is a huge event.

You're asked to headline at a festival taking place in Sturgis during that particular week and play in front of thousands of fans... Seriously?

Just like the Sydney concert is an event in itself, not "just a rock concert", so is this!

These type of shows are good for the band since they'll be more than just hardcore GNR fans there. Many who don't know anything about the new GNR will get to see just how good they are.

I'm not finding any "official" statistics, but it seems attendance to the Sturgis rally was estimated to be upwards of 400,000 last year - some websites are estimating 500 - 700K for this year's 70th anniversary.  Wow!!

I'll be there!   Cheesy

This is a dream concert for Amy and I.  I can't thank them enough.

So are any of the guys bringing their bikes?  I'm not sure who all rides.  Axl does/did and Dizzy wanted one.  Wasn't there a rumor they they all got Harleys from that commercial?

I'll be riding up to Sturgis and will be camping at the chip. Ozzy and Motley are playing there, but with the addition of GNR wow! This will be one hell of a week!

A live stream like at the KROQ festival a couple years ago would be awesome, Axl can you make this happen?

Cheers
