No one can sing the GNR classics as well as the original, who I try not to mention in this section, but Myles does a good job.

CONCERT REVIEW | ROCK ON THE RANGE

Zombie, Slash give crowd enough thrills

Monday,  May 24, 2010

The former Guns N' Roses lead guitarist, billed under a singular name but playing with a full band, didn't hesitate to dip into his catalog.

When the curly-haired musician - who hasn't seemed to age, sunglasses, top hat and all - launched into Sweet Child o' Mine, a time and place would have been difficult to pinpoint (Myles Kennedy, a vocalist who fronted the ensemble, sounded remarkably like GNR's Axl Rose).

While listening to Paradise City in a sweaty pit of tattooed, sunburned bodies that were cooled intermittently by not-so-clean water from hurled plastic bottles, the heat and hordes became less icky and instantly more tolerable.

I've had that issue as well. I went to the Monsters of Rock in 1988 and didn't get to see Metallica because of the moshers. Anyway, I hope I get to see Slash this time around. If not I guess he'll always tour again!

He's just about the only other male singer I have seen do a respectable version as it often comes off like a disaster when people try.

From Myles Kennedy:

Today's gig was a blast! I was really surprised by how many people were singing along to the new material ...really cool to see.

I hadn't watched the By the Sword (which Myles sounds okay on but Andrew was definitely the right guy for it) video until now.  I laughed because when Myles commented that he heard people singing along with Slash's new stuff which he thought was cool, you can hear someone from the crowd say, "we don't want more new songs, give us more Guns N' Roses."

I dunno, Myles kinda sounds like 2002 Axl, really high pitched, whiny vocals. He needs some more grit in his voice.

This Myles guy can hit high notes, low notes and whatever notes there are to hit.

Celine Dion can do that too.

All thos guys in American Idol can do that too.

I hope this Myles dude has to come back to his band ASAP.

So Slash is gonna have to find another singer.

Is it too much to ask for a *rocker* this time, Slash?

It's funny because everyone criticized Axl how bad he sounded in 2002, and like you said Myles sounds the same (even worse in my opinion) when he goes high. All whine no grit.

My comment wasn't a compliment, I thought Axl sounded bad in 2002, and so does Myles here.

Well I like Myles and I think he has a great voice and I am looking forward to my turn at a concert. To compare any singer to Axl is unfair because there are not many that are as good as he is.
