Axl and Guns fucking ROCKED the Hammerstein Ballroom, and I was there to see it!  Great fucking memories.  It's still one of the greatest days of my life.  That trip to NYC, the pre-party, and the greatest GNR concert I've been to, will all be with me for the rest of my life.

oh i remember those nights, following it from over here in Sweden, not with live updates but i got up earlier the morning after so i could read all the stuff before i went to school.. back then I was only a "lurker" and i would join the board 2 weeks later because i needed help with the stream from rock in lisboa, can't believe it's been 4 years, in school i told all my uninterrested friends about the show

and in a month it'll finally be the first time for me

Time flies when your having fun!! I did not have the good fortune of seeing them at Hammerstein, but I do remember the electricity I was getting from all those updates here, I was on countdown for Lisboa and had not seen them in years.  I remember ordering tickets and having to patiently wait like 3 months before it was actually time.  I joined the board in August of 05 and by May of 06 it was great times, I was seeing them in Rio, then in Vegas, and then in my hometown, and had front row tickets, center stage to Reno, but they cancelled to finish album, though I was really dissapointed, it was worth it, obviously we got the album not long after.  It has been a great ride ever since .

Yes, I too remember being so happy and ecstatic around this time in 2006. It was the best time of my life as I was awaiting my first time seeing them at Rock In Lisbon. And I was looking at every bit of info, pics and videos from the New York dates.

It was such a special time, and one I will never forget. As I said in another thread, this was like the second coming of Christ for me. And I will never forget travelling to Lisbon, Paris, Vegas, Glasgow, Toronto as well as other UK cities, since this historic night.

I remember watching this Jungle video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVAwxqdSK1c . And I couldn't believe how wild the crowd was.

So although I never saw them live on that night, I will always class 12/05/2006 as the return of GN'R.

I know its illegal but cmon..it was a hell of a time to be a gnr fan! The mistery that surrounded that time. Any day u could have a leak coming to the boards or a setlist paper. Everything was precious

That was a great show. I remember meeting Dizzy before the show. He was chilling on the floor drinking a beer while bullet for my valentine was playing. People were still coming in to hammerstein. He went virtually unrecognized by most. Me and my bud went up to him and said whats up. Nice guy.

I remember all the frenzy with updates. Back then I was translating them to the Perfect Crime board (which made the site crash with so many views - I had to keep buying extra bandwith all the time and even moved the entire board to another server) and stayed up all night.

Then, after the gig, I bothered jazjme, who just got back home from the show and had a pretty low quality recording with him singing along the songs, lol. He sent the one file to me and I edited and uploaded one by one for everyone here and in the Brazillian board.

Uh, Better leaked way before the Hammerstein gigs, between January and February. Catcher (with Brian May) leaked by the time of the gigs, I believe.

yeah i went to the shows on the 15th and 17th, the 17th with Izzy Stradlin and Kid Rock  was the best GNR show I have ever seen in person.
