Really?

-----------------------------------------------------------------

There aren't many fans from Panama here. I wanted more stories of the show. It's entertaining to read different stories Grin. Well, thanks to the only one who shared his experience with us, chriskon72  ok

it's at the 1:30 mark of that video above,  and goes pretty much like this...

"Stop, Stop, Next person who throws something, we go home. If thats what you want, I've got no problem with it. You wanna throw stuff, we don't need to be here. I just got hit in the face, I ain't getting hit in the face again, if I am, I'm leaving. you wanna have a good time? (crowd "yeah") So do I, let's try that again boys and girls."

I hope this thing of throwing stuff won't become typical of a gn'r show. Maybe, it's because there are still some people who don't accept this lineup. It isn't easy to keep a name. Poor Axl, he was hit in the face Angry. I think next time, things will be more easy without thrown stuff.

Thus spake the Super-Guru...Did you hear that?

« Reply #87 on: April 09, 2010, 04:22:01 PM »

Alright, sorry it took so long to get my review together. I?ve was busy like crazy yesterday with our best friend spending her last day with us (sight seeing) and taking her to the airport and driving 3 hours back to where we live.

Here are the cast of Characters in this twisted story:

Myself: CK
My wife: Re
Our Best Friend: Kerol
Our daughter: Liv
The rest I am sure you know.

We have been living in Panama for one year now, it?s a great place. Great city, we live about 2.5 - 3 hours from the city (depending on traffic). We moved here from the north of Brazil, my wife is from Rio. Our best friend Kerol is from Salvador, Bahia. She came on Sunday to go to meet our new daughter Liv and go to the show with us.

So Wednesday I booked a room in a hotel for us because it is a long drive after the show, we have a friend who would babysit for us. We arrived around 1:30 to find out GNR were staying in the same hotel!!!! OF course we all shit ourselves!! LOL. Cool, go down to the pool for lunch and the first person we see is Richard walking towards and he says ?Wow that is a very small baby she is so cute!? We say hi, chit chat, he showed the ladies pictures of his children it was fantastic, we took some pictures. We wished him a great show and enjoy Panama and he mentioned how much he was enjoying the place. We walked into the restaurant and DJ was on one table with a guy and Tommy was on another with 2 other fellows. We sat down had lunch, didn?t talk to any of them (I?m a chef, don?t bug people when they eat). Tommy got up, stopped at the bar and soon after left. Dj went to the pool where Fernando was with the Tequila girls. We finished lunch and were lazing around the pool with Liv taking pictures, listening to shitty music. Dj was busting the moves to Thriller, La Isla Bonita (Madonna). I went to grab some drinks and Dj came to the bar. I talked to him a bit about Sixx AM (he said the second disc is done and killer), the tour etc. The band had some time off in Panama and the hotel is very secluded and quiet so it was a nice change from the hectic times they had been through, sun, beach, pools. Dj was so down to earth and so cool, we took some pictures?I think he liked Kerol (who wouldn?t), he is very quiet nothing like the guy he transforms into when he straps on a guitar and gets on stage.
I talked to Fernando we had a great chat (also about HTGTH) I introduced him to my girls, very very nice guy. I saw Vanessa from a distance but we didn?t talk. I shot the shit with the Cheryl (Tequila), she?s from Calgary (I used to live there), we had a great talk about a lot of funny things? also about the Flames not making the playoffs (not so funny). It was so weird to be sort of in the ?inner circle? even though we were nowhere near an inner circle, it was just surreal lounging around the pool with these people I?ve read so much about. The musicians I admire so much the music they have helped create which has never let me down and which has been there for me through all the good times and bad.
The girls decided to go back to the room to give Liv a bath and relax before getting ready. I stayed down by the pool, soon Frank showed up and so did Chris. Man, unbelievable Chris asked me to sit down; he was like an ol? school friend you run into?so easy going?we had a great time, George Chin who is filming sat down and we talked about everything under the sun.  Chris and I talked about so many things it was crazy. We have a lot of things in common. One thing I will mention about our talk is how highly he spoke of Baz and how he is in the best form ever as Chris said ?he has just grown into this huge Monster? whoever knows Baz that is saying something. Like I said before Chris and Frank and I threw a volleyball around. It was so fuckin weird. Frank asked me if this was the kids pool and I said ?well I guess so because Dj was in it earlier? they both cracked up laughing. I had to get back to my room and get ready, so soon after I left thanked them, wished them a great show.
I?m going to skip to arriving to the gig, but a lot of shit happened to me on the way, I got stopped and hassled by the cops. We had some problems with the sitter, Re was nervous but things were going ok. After dropping the baby off the cab driver got lost (is that possible?)

Figali convention-center is on a Causeway so it?s one way in - one way out. Traffic is a fuckin nightmare, it took us a while but we got there. We arrived shortly before Baz hit the stage. Got some beers and enjoyed the show. Baz was great like always, he had some serious sound problems during the first few songs but got better. The band was good they went into a part of Panama (VH) which was great afterwards they did it again and played the whole song, very fuckin cool, it got the crowd going. Baz left the stage to a great cheer from the crowd. He was fuckin good.

I don?t know but my night somehow turned at this point. The fuck??s beside us were from Montreal I was wearing my Leafs cap so these guy?s introduced themselves, we shot the shit a bit, whatever, they were fuckin retards-hitting on Kerol and my wife an just acting like shitheads and thinking were Brad Pitt in reality the were the equivalent of Huey, Lewy and Dewy, Jesus Christ. The music playing was very low, so you couldn?t hear really what was playing. I don?t know, I thought it was dumb?I was prepared for the wait but let?s listen to some tunes, right? Then the fuckin? stands started to run out of stuff, no Coke, only warm water, I was ok, they had beer?for now, lol. The girls had hot water and a cold fuckin chicken burger it was the worst thing I ever tried. Stupid, is all I can say, the concession stands were totally unprepared, unorganized. It was getting packed, (attendance was very good, more than I expected). We made our way back to sort of where we were cause it was a good spot but tried not to be seen by the Montrealers. People started sitting on the floor?waiting, getting pissed, waiting etc. I have to say it sucked, I?m not sure exactly what time Baz left but by now it was 12:05 and the light guy?s and camera men were nowhere to be seen. People were chanting Mierda, Mierda, some booing was going on. You could see people were getting frustrated. I swear 12:00-12:25 were the longest minutes of my life?lol!  Assholes talking about what they are going to steal if there is a riot, others saying shit like ?I have a business, if I treated my clients like this I?d be fucked? Oh man, it was harsh. 12:20 people going to positions!!!! 12:25 Light?s out!!!!!

1.   ChinDem, ?don?t really matter? Axl stops the song, saying he was hit in the face?I didn?t see it. Fuckin? crowd was very quiet, nothing like the shit we?ve been seeing lately, I was bummed out, but jumping like a mother fuck. Axl did not seem happy. I don?t know things seemed a little off, strange. There were a few sound issues but nothing serious.
2.   Jungle, Got the crowd going? things getting better
3.   ISE, cool band hitting it?s stride?Richard is insane!!! Axl very quiet, very serious, ?We are happy to be in Panama, thank you?.
4.   Brownstone?great Dj stealing the show, what a stage presence. So glad they got him.
5.   Better, was good there were some sound problems which sucked. The crowd seemed like they didn?t know what the fuck was going on, never heard the song. We were jumping and singing people were staring at us. I could sort of sense the band wanted to get people into it but it didn?t fuckin? work.
6.   If the World. If people calmed down during better you can imagine If the World. I was surprised and concerned not to hear Sorry (one of my favourites from CD)
7.   I loved Richard?s solo, it was great
8.   LALD kicked ass and woke the crowd up?A bit.
9.   This I Love, Axl?s performance of this song was chilling to say the least and near the end he had the crowd in the palm of his hand. Loved when Axl walked up the ramp and grabbed Chris?s foot?I think it scared the shit out of him. LOL. It?s such a sad/serious song
10.   Rocket Queen?Old song got a good reaction from the crowd.
11.   SOD Dizzy?s solo was great for me. SOD was awesome, the band sounded awesome but again the crowd went back to sleep.
12.   YCBM, the band just kicked ass.
13.   Sweet Child, The momentum from YCBM was sort of lost during DJ?s sog of death which was unfortunate, it seemed the band trying really hard to get everyone going. Of course the song got everyone going again.
14.   NR, Another Brick in The Wall was so fuckin awesome and almost scary, magic. NR everyone was singing, Kerol started crying?LOL she couldn?t believe she was at the show!!!!
15.   KOHD I don?t know but something was not right, Axl was very serious, not at all the Axl from all the clips I?ve seen this year. It was weird, I can?t explain it.
16.   PC, I shit myself. Re and I looked at each other ?Oh fuck? the band rocked the crowd went insane.
17.   Madagascar, I was praying that they would come back and they did, they played the first verse twice waiting for Axl to come on stage?at first I thought he wasn?t gonna come out. LOL!
18.   Patience, we made our way to the exits because of the traffic, it was past 2:30 and we had to pick up the baby. Obviously I didn?t see Nightrain, too bad.

I loved the show but I didn?t have a great time like I should have and I feel bad about that. The crowd was lame, and something was going on, of course I don?t know what. The band was not off; they played the fuck out of the songs. Each previous time I had seen the band I left feeling like I had gone rounds with Mike Tyson, I didn?t have that feeling this time. I have refrained from comparing the Metallica show from a month ago but honestly I could hardly walk the next day, the crowd was fuckin? rowdy. At times I just held on to the rail at the soundboard for life. I am by no means a Met fan. And I only went because it has been years since I?ve been to a show. There was no danger of that at Figali this night.

Too bad I was so psyched. Would I go again? You fuckin? bet there was a lot of magical little moments for a diehard like me.

We got back to the hotel and nothing was open so we went to bed. Next day I saw Frank at breakfast. But we didn?t talk?I had to get going.
