My wife and I just brought our 3rd bundle of joy home on Easter...his first song heard on the car ride home from the hospital?
SCRAPED!
Big brother's (who is 6 years old) first song was Sweet Child O' Mine...
and sister's (who is 4 years old) was Paradise City.
I just had to share my joy!

When I left work in a rush to meet my wife at the hospital for our first born I started the car up and Patience was on the radio. It helped me regroup a little bit and get to the hospital safe and in one piece.

Congratulations!!! Good to know that some people are still raising their kids right!
Back when my ex was pregnant and we were picking names (didn't know if it was a boy or girl yet) I picked the name "EVEL AXL" if it was a boy. Needless to say, the wife shot that one down but we had a girl anyway so it didn't matter.

Did "Scraped" just happen to be the track that CD was on at the time, or was there a thought process involved?
Like, do I want my son to grow up to be defiant ("Scraped")? Lovesick ("This I Love")? Or commit future tax evasion ("IRS")?
LOL. Just kidding with you.
Congrats, man. That's great news.

Thanks for all the comments and thanks for asking a great question Gilee.
TONS of thought went into this for me. (probably too much, but I'd rather overthink the issue than anything)
Here was my thought process:
After my first two kids had songs from Appetite, there was no doubt CD was going to be the album that had the song that was meant for my newest addition.
My first thought was to go with a song that hits me emotionally. My ultimate "hits me emotionally" song off of CD is This I Love. That said, while the song is unfuckingbelievably sad to me (it gives me tears almost every time I hear it) I just couldn't make it fit into this experience.
Then, I thought of another emotional tour de force, Madagascar. For me though, Madagascar at the time just didn't fit. (as folks laugh, and say, "and Scraped did?)
Shackler's, Catcher, Rhiad, Sorry, and Prostitute just didn't fit.
There Was a Time wasn't forward-looking enough for me.
Better's "hardest part," and "full of anger" lines just didn't fit the moment either.
Chinese's, "It don't really matter," didn't fit because well, let's be honest, your child's first GNR tune DOES matter!
(by the way, I asked my 6 year old if he could hear a mistake made in that first line. "Yes Daddy," he said matter of factly, "It should be it
doesn't
really matter." Fuckin' love it!
SOD and IRS he can really appreciate when he hits his teen years.
If the World...man, bringing your child home is such a great experience I couldn't deal with a hypothetical that heavy, "If the world would end today." I just couldn't deal with that!
Which leaves us with a tune that in my opinion is the most positive song on the album. Every word of the tune is something positive. I'm a positive person and I just love the message...every fucking word!
Rock on!

Great news, congratulations!
Scraped? Hilarious. Your kids are lucky -- dedicated but somewhat disturbed dads are rare gems.
