After 'Paradise City' the band then went to the front of the stage and bowed, with Rose saying: "Be safe getting out of here. And for the problems with the promoters, fuck you."

Benn played down the "war" comment, saying he would actually consider booking the band again. "I'd definitely book them again but I don't know if they'd come and play," he said. "I doubt I'll be getting a Christmas card from them, which is a shame because tonight was great. There are rules we have to abide by here in the UK, they're very clear rules. It's not personal, I think the band are great. Why would I make it personal?"

Well here is my two pence worth having just got home from Leeds...

Firsty, and this is only a personal point of view and not music related, but i was not a fan of the lay out of the festival at all. It just seemed a bit of a mish mash with stages and stalls all over the place...but anyway onto the music.

It was "Rock Day" although the only thing in the day on the main stage that remotely resembled rock was QOTSA. Now i am not a massive fan but they know how to play to a festival crowd and i was extremely impressed by them. The rest of the bands were crap, but again thats just my opinion, i was only there to see GN'R not Billy No Talent.

Anyway on to the gig, there was only an hour between QOTSA and GN'R and we did get a few "Where the **** is Axl Rose" chants starting about 9.15 which was 15 minutes after their "scheduled" start time. You could tell that the chanting was in jest and just a bit of fun because come 9.30 the place went nuts. We were practically on the barrier and the crowd was singing along to every word, and i must say that Sorry and TIL live were just absolutely amazing.

They ripped through the set and even the instrumentals were enjoyed by the crowd, i didnt hear one "we want Slash" chant which we got at Download in '06, maybe people have finally realsied that the guy has been gone for 15 fucking years!

The end of the gig was funny, i remarked to my mate at the end of Nightrain (I was at Wembley in '06 where Seb had to finish the song and sing Paradise City) that we have seen our first GN'R gig without any drama...spoke to soon i guess but Tommy was right it was a field in the middle of fucking nowhere..who exactly would complain if they played on, but i guess licences are there for a reason so we were treated to a truncated encore of just PC, which for me was fine as my calfs were aching and my throat was sore.

Axl had the crowd in the palm of his hand for two hours, and every member of the band were having an absolute blast.

Big respect to the Leeds crowd as well, i will admit i was slightly apprehensive at what reception the band would get but 65,000 people were there to see a real rock and fucking roll band and not the middle of the road shite that is being forced down our throats by the fucking Libertines loving media.

Well I went to Leeds yesterday and saw GnR for the first time.

They were awesome. I was right at the front for the begining but it was too much for me, I thought I was going to die in all the moshing so I went further back but was still in a great spot.

The band are such great performers and blew me away. Axl is Axl such passion for his art.

10/10

I am very happy this morning!
