Yeah I think the strong soccer culture here has something to do with that... It happens in every show, Maiden, Megadeth, AC/DC, etc...

If it was that bad, try to tell something at the soundboard guy at the center of the venue, in the middle of the crowd. The guys up there were the ones who could at least try to help.
I've been to shows where the sound changes during the course of the show.
It's not that uncommon....
I think throwing shit at the band isn't helping anybody. You think the first thing that comes to mind when you get hit with a bottle is "Oh, I guess the sound isn't ok"?
Regarding people who say the band should've stopped playing. Did it seem to you like the breaks between songs were peaceful and the crowd would've been happy to wait longer between songs?
I didn't get that impression.
Maybe the band avoided more people getting hurt and/or an actual riot by playing a full set....

I must admit that the Argentine crowd is a bit wild in comparison with other crowds. And people can be aggressive when they don?t like something or something is wrong. In my opinion, yes, it?d have been better to stop the show for some minutes to fix the problem. I don't know, maybe, the problem was easy. But I?m sure if they had explained to us the situation, the crowd would have waited without any riot because the problem started at the beginning of the show (after the second song). We just wanted to hear Axl's mic.
Sometimes different cultures and languages make things a bit difficult. In this particular case, the translator omitted to express the ?words? of the crowd to Axl. Bad job of the translator. Axl didn?t know what was happening with the crowd. Poor Axl, maybe he thought we didn?t like the songs!

What did Axl do in 1993? Called the interpreter, informed there were technical problems, and said ''were gonna be back as soon as they are corrected, thank you for your patience''.
And that was the most memorable show of the complete Skin N Bones tour from 1993, so
I REALLY
think trying to fix the technical problems, even needing some dead/waiting time, would have been the best option. Axl's voice was unhearable NOT in Madagascar, i mean, at the last part of the show, it was unhearable from the starting. But sadly, I think this was one of those techincal problems you just cant fix in ''minutes''...
The argentine show was a nightmare in terms of ticket sales organization, then the venue changed, then the date changed, then the incidents outside the venue, then the technical problems, then the assholes throwing stuff... trust me never expected this. It makes me sad for the people who was only able to attend to this show, not for me, really.

oh cmon ,, stop the Argentinians are the wildest BS.. They were promising the most amazing crowd and .. well we all know what happened.. In Brazil where they made that huge Flag.. That WAS Amazing and memorable and I m sure the band wont forget it..
Those type of waves where everyone just moves forward and then all over the place happen everywhere.. at least in Bogota where I saw Maiden and Metallica.. so nothing extraordinary , just that they always shoot the concerts in Argentina.. time to move on.
OH MY GOD.. This is amazing though
http://www.youtube.com/user/diegooviedo1#p/u/4/BWjy20V2vYE
AMAZING, Goosebumps all over.. the singing is incredible, Reminded me of the 666 Documentary when Bruce is singing Fear of the dark..at the beggining and says Argentinaaaaa... Its the loudest crowd I ve seen on video

It's nice of Ron to post something about this.
About the sound problem, I remember I went to a show in Paris a few years ago (a French band, not GN'R). It was a big venue and it was packed (it's where GN'R played in 2006: Bercy, about 17,000 seats). The band came on stage, the first 3 songs were fine and then the sound stopped working. The band stopped playing, the singer went backstage to see what was going on, started over, but the sound was still not working. Apparently the band didn't know, so the singer came closer to the front row and asked the audience close to the stage if they could hear. We answered no so the band went backstage and it lasted for a while (like 10 minutes). The crew fixed the sound and then it was ok for the rest of the show.
Of course, it happened in an arena, not in a stadium with 45,000 people. For us, the band understood something was wrong because it was the whole band, but for Buenos Aires it seems it was only Axl's mic, and only in some parts of the stadium, which is why it was very difficult to fix. Maybe the sound crew didn't hear the problem, or if they did, they couldn't/ didn't have time to fix it during the concert.

I agree, sound problems can happen at any show. You only have to think back to Download 06 to remember how unpredictable the sound can be at a show. And also how much of a pain it is to sort it out while the audience are going crazy. But in any event, I think it's kind of obvious that throwing things at the stage is not going to improve the situation at all.
I also know it must be hard when there are a small percentage of people in the crowd trying to spoil the show for the majority. I hope that most of the audience enjoyed the show, and it sounds to me like everyone had a blast. Good on GN'R for playing a full set and for not letting the minority who were throwing objects at the stage win.
For the people who felt the sound problems spoiled the show for them, I have to say it's an unpredictable aspect of any show. I'm sure most people on this forum have gone to a show where the sound didn't live up to their expectations. Just try to be happy GN'R played a full set, and in saying that be thankful GN'R put up with objects being thrown at the stage, when they would have been entitled to leave if they chose.

100% agree.
Do you think the first thing that comes to mind when you have waited for 10 non-stop songs to hear the singer?s voice is '..I?m sure they are working on it....' ?
I can - in some way ? understand, not justify, the violent behavior. People spent 10 songs throwing nothing but signals.
1st ? With the hands on the air and fingers doing a Negative signal.
2nd ? Chanting ?no se escucha?
3rd - ?Chanting ?Sub? el volumen, la puta que te pario? meaning ?Turn up the volume, damn it?
4th ? Giving signals to the band?s members.
(In Montevideo, I was in first row and another fan standing right next to me told DJ Ashba (you know?gesticulating) to turn up the volume of Axl?s mic ? and he did understood, we could see him talking to some guys in charge of the sound i guess ? He also came back to us and asked if it was better - Such a Nice Guy - )
I?m really sorry that throwing things on stage was the only effective way to catch the band's attention. I guess it was crowd's last resource. I apologize to the band for that. I really do. Of course they are not to blame. But yes, someone must be responsible and fix whatever the hell is wrong with their sound, 'cause if not - it will eventually damage GNR image

I didn't get that impression.
When Axl asked the first time for an interpreter many people thought he was going to talk about the sound, but instead of that he gave as a warning about the shits being thrown onstage.
That made people get even more annoyed and upset. It was like a fucking joke.?or a nightmare.
Then, the main problem was not only the Audio technical difficulties, the problem was that nobody seemed to be aware of that?
and that meant to us that nobody was trying to fix it. So yes, I was one of those who would have preferred the show to be stopped rather than watching Axl making movements like a mime. Especially because I know he?s voice is in perfect shape.
We would have waited an eternity?People were ready to have fun, A proof to that is how the crowd changed their attitude as soon as Axl?s voice could be heard in the whole stadium.
And this is just my thought but I believe Axl noticed that change as well and gave us reasons to believe he had understood our bad behavior.
Anyway?I enjoyed the show and it makes me really happy to watch all those youtube videos where his voice can be clearly appreciated.
And? Damn we`re good! ?.have you seen that crowd??. ..Who said we were upset

Headed 4 Lima! Was great gettin' back 2 Buenos Aires!! The crowds everywhere on this tour r unique un2 themselves. Don't get much rowdier or energetic than here n' as w/ Belo Horizonte n' Santiago etc. very humbling. Sure there's excited idiots who throw shit or whatever but 4 the most part the fans r so enthusiastic, positive n' we mean so much 2 them it sets u bk n' makes u work hard to feel u can earn a small part of the respect they show u. So many of these shows we have trouble w/r sound on stage to b able to hear 'cuz the audience is singing along so loud which is amazing!! It's also nice to visit places that aren't as jaded n' influenced by peer pressure or media nonsense. They know what they like n' stand up 4 it rather than b told what they should n' shouldn't b in2. I grew up w/the preppies n' jocks w/their pink Izod's where Bowie, Cooper, Zeppelin etc. were considered garbage n' when The Cars, The Police, The Clash, The Ramones, The Sex Pistols etc were "gay", whatever. South American fans have always been so good to us, I'm happy we were able to find a way to play for those we've been fortunate enough to have seen so far!! Obrigado, Gracias n' Thank You!! N' to the officials who gave us extra time in Buenos Aires a triple Thank You!! Peace!!
