Just got this e-mail from the company I pre-ordered the Slash pack from..

Thank you for pre-ordering Classic Rock Presents Slash.

Due to legal reasons, Paradise City feat. Cypress Hill and Fergie has had to be withdrawn from this limited edition deluxe version of the Slash album. Fans should note that a brand new track, 'Back From Cali' has now been added (feat. Myles Kennedy) and that the exclusive 'Baby Can't Drive', (feat. Alice Cooper & Nicole Scherzinger) still remains. The Slash Fan Pack still contains an exclusive 132 page deluxe magazine, a woven Slash patch and a giant fold out poster.

The Slash Fan Pack will be on sale April 7th.

The tracklisting for the Classic Rock deluxe format of the 'Slash' album includes:

Ghost (feat. Ian Astbury)
Crucify The Dead (feat. Ozzy)
Beautiful Dangerous (feat. Fergie)
Back From Cali (feat. Myles Kennedy)
Promise (feat. Chris Cornell)
By The Sword (feat. Andrew Stockdale)
Gotten (feat. Adam Levine)
Doctor Alibi (feat. Lemmy Kilmeister)
Watch This (feat. Dave Grohl/Duff McKagan)
I Hold On (feat. Kid Rock)
Nothing To Say (feat. M Shadows)
Starlight (feat. Myles Kennedy)
Saint Is A Sinner Too (feat. Rocco De Luca)
We're All Gonna Die (feat. Iggy Pop)
Bonus Track:
Baby Can't Drive (feat. Alice Cooper/Nicole Scherzinger)
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and rest assured your copy of the Slash Fan Pack will be on its way to you from 7th April.

Was my first thought, too. But it could just have easily been Geffen, or people representing Cypress Hill or Fergie.

Something is clearly blocking it though if it was removed for "Legal reasons"

Actually I believe everyone who owns copyrights to the song has to sign off on it.

not the case for the greatist hits though.  Dont think anyone wanted that to be released.   Undecided

As I remember it, Geffen managed to release that, because a) they own the copyright to the recordings (there are two kinds of copyright... one for songs, one for recordings. Label always gets the copyright to the recordings, and in a lot of cases get the copyright to the songs, too... luckily, GN'R managed to retain the right to their songs). And b) because they were promised a Guns N' Roses album, and if they weren't going to get an album of new material, they were going to make sure they got one anyway.

Slash told me through his Twitter that it's only deleted from this Classic Rock pack, not from all other versions.

That'd be because it wasn't on any of the other versions to begin with. Wink

And that doesn't seem to be entirely true. He said there will be several more versions (w/ exclusive grafis) of the CD including one planned for the end of the year with all 19 tracks on it & probably with a different cover layout.

probably due to public demand as much as anything, much better to remove that waste of space and replace it with an original song.  anyone desperate (mad) enough to want to hear it can easily get hold of it if they desire.  good move classic rock.

I had no problem with the song, it sounded interesting and different, not bad at all pretty funky.

But if it makes way to make room for Back From Cali, I say good cause the more originals the better.

I wonder after reading some of these comments if they just decided to drop it...

SLASH's Version Of 'Paradise City' Featuring FERGIE Gets Withdrawn - Mar. 19, 2010

Due to legal reasons, Slash's collaboration with BLACK EYED PEAS singer Fergie (a.k.a. Stacy Ann Ferguson) on a new recording of the GUNS N' ROSES classic "Paradise City" (hear audio below), also featuring CYPRESS HILL, has had to be withdrawn from the limited-edition deluxe version of Slash's upcoming self-titled solo debut. Fans should note that a brand new track, "Back From Cali" (featuring Myles Kennedy) has now been added and that the exclusive "Baby Can't Drive" (featuring Alice Cooper and Nicole Scherzinger) still remains.
