SMASHING PUMPKINS, DREAM THEATER and SLASH are among the confirmed artists for Japan's annual Summer Sonic festival, which has the unusual distinction of occurring in two places at once ?outside of Tokyo and in the city of Osaka. Since the festival lasts between two and three days, bands will often play both locations. This year's festival will occur on the weekend of August 7-8 and will feature performances by the following acts:
