Sorry if this was already posted

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) ? Guns N' Roses will play three private shows in Brazil and Argentina during the band's current tour of South America, the organizer said on Monday.

The shows are set for undisclosed locations in Sao Paulo on Thursday and Buenos Aires on March 20. Plans are also in the works for a show in Rio De Janeiro.

Organizer Jamison Ernest said each venue will hold about 150 people. He declined to reveal too much information for fear of riots by uninvited guests. He will co-host the Sao Paulo show with Brazilian model Ana Beatriz Barros.

The 11-date tour, the band's first trek around the continent since its heyday in 1992, began on Sunday in Brasilia. Dates are on tap through April 1 in Quito, Ecuador. The band will also play Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Venezuela and Colombia.

Ernest, a friend of Guns N' Roses singer Axl Rose, also runs a clothing company and has a band, both named Yellow Fever. Guns N' Roses previously played three secret shows, two in New York City and one in London.

Rose is the only remaining member left from the band when its popularity peaked during a decade spanning the 1980s and 1990s. The other members were either ousted or quit. Even though its 2008 album "Chinese Democracy," its first release in 17 years, was a major flop, the band remains a strong concert draw.

Rose and his new crop of bandmates were last in Brazil to play the Rock in Rio festival in January 2001.

Sorry guys, there will not be three secret shows in South America.  Sorry for the confusion, some people just need to be quiet and enjoy the sun.

Any plans coming to light with that live show broadcast thing you mentioned awhile back?

It'll happen, not for the SA tour, but future ones.

The bar is certaintly set high if an album goes platinum all over the world and though it perhaps did not live up to the "hype", is referred to as a "major flop".  AIC sells 200k copies and the album is considered a huge success because it gets some airplay....blah...

Yellow journalism at its best.

Thanks for the quick clarification.

One thing though; when you said "for a future tour" did you mean surprise shows or were you answering the question about broadcast of a show?

Surprise shows are awesome...if you get to attend one enjoy seeing the greatest performers in the world up close and in an intimate setting...I'd love to see GNR in a small bar or better yet, my living room rofl

GNR should put out a press release shooting this down... When these shows dont happen, some people will think Axl is the asshole

I believe Axl wasn't too happy with Reuters in one of his recent interviews (it was the one on spinner.com I think). Hmm no, it was the one on billboard.com:

"Also, because it's my understanding that these answers may be "considered" for use with Billboard.com and Reuters [with which Billboard has a syndication deal] and this seemed like a wonderful opportunity to express myself accordingly.

With Reuters, I get their reach. That said, they've been particularly ugly toward me and this band for years, with nearly everything they've written being condescending or negatively judgmental with the cute little press trick of using negative adjectives across the board whenever they've written anything. In our regard they're one of the media outlets that appear to continually attempt to set a tone for a negative mainstream public perception regarding either us or myself, at least in the United States, if not the world.

I get freedom of the press, but I'm not clear in regard to their writers or those who choose to run their spin, why someone who no one's ever heard of with so little "real" information is deemed qualified -- let alone allowed so much corporate backing -- to promote negative and often completely inaccurate and purely opinion-based (at best, if that) shots in forums with so much exposure at the public's and our expense."

And this news came from Reuters. Wink

Fernando, if you read this topic, could you find out if the band will actually be in Europe in June (besides Finland and Sweden)? Promoters talked about concerts in Croatia, Serbia and Russia and fans don't really know if these shows will happen or not (promoters are now saying these concerts are postponed). Thanks!

Great news that Guns will not play these secret shows. Globo tv here in Brazil was spreading rumours that they would play for Big Brother Brazil, that would be lame. Undecided
