Does anyone else  think that the chorus you can hear at the beginning of that clip sounds a bit like the chorus of 'Bad Apples'?

who cares? Fortus has performed with Rihanna!!  There is nothing wrong with that either.  Thats what open minded musicians do, they perform and try things outside the box.

The difference is one is a millionaire looking for attention/publicity and the other was only doing it to pay the bills as a session guitarist.

Slash is a certified rock god.  He is regarded as one of the greatest rock guitar players of all time.  He is like Joe Perry, Jimmy Page, Keith Richards etc..he doesnt HAVE to do anything for attention or publicity.  He is an established legend.  How is playing with Fergie going to give him any more notoriety?  Everyone on the face of this planet knows who the guy is.  He is a guy who just likes playing with everyone he can.  This is nothing new, he used to record with Michael Jackson back when GNR were the biggest band in the world.  It's not like he disappeared for 15 years and now is trying to get attention, he never stopped performing.

SLASH Addresses Rumors - Feb. 24, 2010

First, he addressed reports that he plans to do a rock album with BLACK EYED PEAS singer Fergie's (a.k.a. Stacy Ann Ferguson), who sings on a track on his upcoming solo album.

"You know what?! I mentioned that she wants to do a rock album at one point," he said. "That's all it was, I don't know when she's gonna do it or anything like that, but we talked about working together on it when she does it. But when I say that, I mean in that in the vaguest way. If she does it, I would love to do it with her, yeah."

You make some good and valid points.  But Slash is obviously always going to be held to a higher standard than Richard Fortus, or nearly any guitarist.

And as much as I appreciate Fergie (she looks damn good).  Don't ever compare her to Michael Jackson ever again!  Those 2 aren't even close to being in the same league.

I was def NOT comparing Fergie to Michael Jackson haha.  I was saying that they are two artists who are outside of the rock n roll spectrum.  They are pop artists.  Most rock n roll fans throw a fit when someone in their favorite rock bands plays with a pop artist.

For anyone else who has a problem with what Slash does here is a dose of reality.. Slash is untouchable, he is a made man.  He can drive a school bus full of children off a cliff and people will still like him and consider him a rock legend.  Aerosmith hasnt put out a good album in 20 years, but Joe Perry is still  Joe Perry.  The Stones havent put out a good album in a half a century but Keith Richards is still Keith Richards.  My point is Slash has carte blanche to work with whoever he wants whenever he wants and it can never diminish his legacy.  The guy sold 100 million records with Guns N Roses, went platinum with Snakepit in 1995 when rock n roll was dead, and multi-platinum with Velvet Revolver, nevermind how highly regarded he is by every music publication on the planet.  The guys legacy is cemented, so when people throw out the "sell out" term or any other nonsense like that it makes me laugh.  Like Richards, Perry, Page etc..he has passed into that legends level, he has complete freedom.

Why don't you guys argue if he does a rock album with Fergie? Arguing over some hypothetical situation just because he happened to make an off hand remark is just  a waste of time.

So youa re implying that had Fortus NOT performed with Rihanna he would have been in debt and had no money to support himself? Yeah bro BULL FUCKING SHIT. He obviously thought

A ) This is something different musically I want to get into

B ) The check is good too.

What is the difference when Slash looks to Fergie and says

A ) This is something different musically I want to get into

B)  The check is good too.

Nothing. It would be different if Richard was a STARVING artist , he's not. He's well off don't let it fool you , he didn't NEED to perform with Rihanna as you so make it seem he wanted to. Open minded musicians FTW

I find this Slash hate so amusing.

Richard jams with Rhianna, Slash jam's with fergie.  Somehow Slash becomes a sell out.  Richard has toured the world with GNR and is touring again, he aint exactly homeless on the street.  Im sure he can efford his Gas bills.

This reminds me of the time when some people were bashing Slash for Tweeting!  Now the same people love how Axl and GNR tweet.

Some fan's are even asking if the voting in the "Best Guitarist" thread can be redone!  why?  Cos Slash is winning?

Not really active, just the same group of people that use the same tired arguments to support their point of view.

Nothing in the world confuses me more than Guns N Roses fans who hate  Slash.  It makes no fucking sense.  It confuses me even more when they are fans who have been around since the original line up was together.  I became a fan of GNR back when the Illusions came out.  Hating the old members baffles me.  I understand supporting the new band, but completely ripping everyone from the old band is lame.  I have seen the new band 6 times, in the front row for 4 of them, they are awesome but I don't feel like I have to go hate Slash now to show how much i like them.    I understand fans getting tired of  Slash's name coming up all the time when Guns N Roses are mentioned, but heres is a newsflash, that is NEVER changing.  The world will be talking about Old Guns and "Appetite" for as long as the world exists,  Once something is so big and has been established people will never forget it.   The worst thing is these people don't even think for themselves.  They don't even know why they hate Slash, they just hate him cause Axl has a problem with him.  If tomorrow Axl all of the sudden has no problem with Slash anymore, a lot of these people will be like "oh Slash is awesome!"

Think you hit the nail on the head right there.
hating the people that helped make GNR successful and hence making it possible for the current tour makes no sense to me.
I don't think id be able to watch the current band performing songs like "jungle" if i hated the people that helped make those songs what they are today.

I just listen to the music.

If grown men want to fight and hate each other, it's their business.

They're not my friends.  They're not people I know, or even care to know.

Music, music, music.  That's all that matters to me.
