SLASH Says He Might Record Rock Album With FERGIE - Feb. 18, 2010

U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine has posted a new video clip (see below) of legendary guitarist Slash (GUNS N' ROSES, VELVET REVOLVER) talking about how he came to collaborate with BLACK EYED PEAS singer Fergie's (a.k.a. Stacy Ann Ferguson) on his upcoming first true solo album, simply entitled "Slash".

Slash took to Twitter last fall to defend Fergie's vocal performance on a new recording she did with Slash of the GUNS N' ROSES classic "Paradise City" (hear audio below), also featuring CYPRESS HILL. A copy of the recording surfaced online last year while Slash was contemplating whether to include it on his new solo album. The former GUNS guitarist tweeted, "Until now, not too many people have heard Fergie sing rock & roll but she sings it better (than) most dudes I know. She's a screamer at heart."

From Slash:

"I might actually do a rock record with Fergie cause she wants to do a rock record -- so I might get involved with her on that." (@ 1:25)

I think the Slash/Fergie song is playing in the background at the start of that video. Sounds kinda cool from what you can make out.

I hope this doesn't happen.  Get VR going again.  Get involved on one song by all means but please not a whole record/project.

Anyone wondering whats going to happen with VR now, after Slash said he might do a Rock album with Fergie.

i mean, as it is, Slash is gonna be busy for the whole of 2010 with the solo album and the touring.  Duff is doing another Loaded album (i think).  We know VR had some meetings that were apparently pretty positive and we all thought the plan was to try find a singer and get it going again after the side projects were done.  Now though...  what effect do you think it will have on VR if Slash does this album with Fergie?

personally speaking, I think a Rock album with Fergie would be very cheesy, even though it  may elevate Slash back to mainstream superstar status.  But id prefer if they reformed VR and made good rock music again with a cool frontman.

I'm still surprised at how good Fergie sounds doing rock stuff. I don't think it'd be cheesy at all... she sounds better doing rock than she does doing the stuff she does primarily.
And I've thought that VR were done for a while now. I'd be happy to be proven wrong, but everyone seems to be having too much fun not being in Velvet Revolver and finding reasons to put off going back to it.
I actually quite like it this way. I prefer Loaded, and I didn't have high expectations for Slash's record, but it seems like I could be pleasantly surprised from stuff I've heard.

I asked the guy who conducted the interview and he said yes, it is the Fergie song that is playing.

Here is part 1 of the interview if you missed it before...

That made me laugh, I must say.

All kidding aside, the very small portion that played at the beginning of that video did sound interesting.  Sounds like it has some promise.  Eddie Trunk liked it and he was skeptical, so I'd expect it to be pretty good.  Fergie does have a pretty good voice, and a rocking body.  I think I'm looking more forward to the video (if there IS one) than the song itself.

So from this interview we get to know that he tried to get MYA to sing a tune, but she was pregnant, and Jack White refused to sing, only wanted to play an instrument, so Slash passed

Also I think VR will always be there if they ever find a singer, it's not like slash, duff and matt had a big faling out;

from the performances I've seen Fergie do w Slash; as well as the snipet of what was playing, I'd buy a Fergie recod w Slash playing on the whole thing ok

Maybe more hot babes instead of those ugly, disgusting METAL CHIXXX!
More like those hot closet Rocker chicks!

But I will give Fergie the pleasure of saying that she does have the vocal range to sing some of the GNR songs.

When she does not piss herself that is. hihi

SLASH Addresses Rumors - Feb. 24, 2010

First, he addressed reports that he plans to do a rock album with BLACK EYED PEAS singer Fergie's (a.k.a. Stacy Ann Ferguson), who sings on a track on his upcoming solo album.

"You know what?! I mentioned that she wants to do a rock album at one point," he said. "That's all it was, I don't know when she's gonna do it or anything like that, but we talked about working together on it when she does it. But when I say that, I mean in that in the vaguest way. If she does it, I would love to do it with her, yeah."
