GN'R in Helsinki, Finland on June 5th [confirmed Feb 18]

pre show session would be great, were booking flights tonight so will be in helsinki from the wednesday night.

I just bought my ticket! Didn't see any options for delivery so just hoping it's in the mail!!

They're sending them by mail, I got my 2nd confirmation that they've sent the tickets out and they should be in my mailbox in 5-8 days

Maybe, if we have people here who live in Helsinki or are very familiar with it, could suggest places to meet up at? I'll be in the center of Helsinki, no plans yet as to what time we'll be going to the festival.. But a central, 'easy to find' place would probably be best for most, since there's even people from the UK coming  So, let's hear some suggestions! 

Oh and I'm arriving on the 5th around 11am.

Well I'm very familiar with Helsinki but not with the bars etc. (apart from Elmo which is the meeting place for the Finnish football supporters) But that's not the place for us to meet, as most of those fans are already complaining about this show and I don't think they'd be friendly with people coming in sporting GN'R-shirts.

But I'm definitely coming if we manage to meet up before the show

lol kaasupoltin, I wasn't aware of that. I've actually travelled by metro there before but I guess I didn't pay that much attention 

What's the law in Helsinki about drinking in public? In some cities it's prohibited, right? I was just wondering if there'd be an outside place where we could meet at, PYOB or something, if we can't think of a good bar for it. Or maybe there's a place near the festival?

I think the law says you're allowed to drink alcoholic beverages in parks and such places, unless it prohibits others from using the park...


Between the center of Helsinki (the railway station) and the festival, you have the Kallio area. There's a bunch of bars there...

I don't where I'm going in Europe yet, but thought I should ask some questions. 

OK, I have the airport Vantaa, as being right next to the venue, am I looking at this right?.

Also can anyone from Finland or Jarmo tell me how the language barrier is. Would I be OK if I don't know any Finnish or Swedish?.

No, that's something wrong with Google Maps. The airport is about 15 minutes away by car.

You can take a bus (615 I believe) from the airport and it actually passes the venue (as far as I remember).

that's good to know, I was OK in Portugal, the only portuguese word I used was Obrigado, which is thank you. 
In France I was fine too, so I take it most European countrys understand a bit of English if needed?.

I'd love to visit more countrys to see GN'R this year, I'm just working out which ones.

As far as I know, that's a pretty normal pace for festival tickets in Finland.

It's an okay number considering the "it's not Guns N' Roses anymore and Axl's a fat dick" crowd also in Finland, so far very lackluster supporting cast in the festival, and about 25% higher than normal ticket price (since there really is no other star name to justify it).

People aren't in a hurry to buy festival tickets. Especially when they know more will be made available if the first 40,000 would sell out in a day!

It's common sense.

But I bet many people are going, they just need to get the money for the ticket together. And since there's no panic with that many tickets made available, they can wait...
