It was probably awesome when you were there but I really think Paradise city should be the ultimate closer. If they come back for a stripped down version of don't cry of an Oh Canada solo, that's fine. Actually, that's great! But no more real rockers such as better and/or Nightrain. I'm not saying Nightrain is a bad closer, I'm just saying Paradise city is way better Smiley

Just got home... I gotta share a few quick thoughts/observations before I pass out at my keyboard.

- Someone at the soundboard decided to play a lot of Accept before GNR took the stage... pretty cool.
- The crowd was a little rowdier and the security wasn't as strict throughout the show.  People crowd surfed at various points during the set... and what do you know... the building didn't burn to the ground.  hihi
- A guy next to me asked me "Which one is Slash?"  rant
- I think Ron played a little Estranged during his solo (not sure if thats a usual thing or not).
- During the set, Axl went out of his way to high five over half a dozen kids near the far left catwalk... very cool, genuine, and unexpected.
- During Knockin' on Heaven's Door, Axl told a story about a trip to Easter Island with Beta.  Axl said that a guy putting blocks under the tires of the plane sang to him... specifically; "Knock, knock, knock Mutha-fucka".
- Somebody threw something/did something to piss Axl off at the end of Paradise City and he left the stage saying "Thanks alot d!ckhead"... when they returned with Madagascar, Axl added some lyrics to the song - "when people f*ck with my show..."
- The final song of the evening, Nightrain, was amazing.  A great surprise to see it end the show.  Sebastian and Danko looked like they were having the time of their lives up there.  Baz really milked it.  Axl was in really good spirits.

Thanks for the notes, glad you had a good time.

Ron has been playing that short snippet of "Estranged" in his solo throughout the tour, as far as I know.  Mixing it in with the Pink Panther Theme.

Thanks. I really don't get the fact of paying for tickets, watching a great show and throwing things onstage =\

That's the rough part. but some people like it to throw stuff on stage.. it's been happening since the start of GNR.
there is always one guy who wants to f*ck with people's show...

and you know what.. Kick the crap out of him!
we don't pay 40-50 $ for a show to see it end after 3 songs....

Problem is, if YOU kick the crap out of him, YOU get kicked out too.  Better left for security to deal with.  At lots of sporting events they give you a number you can text if some fans are being unruly and they'll deal with it accordingly.  Not sure if they have the same process at concerts.

What was different with "Madagascar" at this show?

"I heard that."  Tongue

Wow it's changed up up a lot.
When I was almost hating to hear pc at GNR shows as it would always bring to a close. it doesn't.

very cool... change is good

hopefully nobody left during paradise city to avoid the exit rush, lol  hihi
No kidding.  If I was there, I might've thought something went wrong and they were gonna end the show without an encore.  Never leave though, until you're sure it's over.  Let this be a lesson to everyone.

Back to the jungle

After waiting a full 17 years for a new album of Guns N' Roses originals, it's fitting that the pop metal stars took their time to take the stage in Saskatoon Tuesday night.

If Axl Rose has struggled at mastering the fine art of suspense he clearly understands tension, waiting until 10:20 p.m. to enter to funeral themed organ music and a rousing standing ovation from the crowd in a show that was expected to last close to three hours.

The band -- 47-year-old Rose (the only original gunner), bassist Tommy Stinson, guitarists Richard Fortus, Ron "Bumblefoot" Thai and DJ Ashba, keyboardists Dizzy Reed and Chris Pitman, and drummer Frank Ferrer -- treated 6,000 or so fans at Credit Union Centre with a fiery, over-the-top rock show that, by my count, requires 14 semi trucks full of gear and equipment and eight buses for the crew.

Wearing a white dress shirt and a black fedora, Rose was looking his age but sounding and acting every bit his 1990s self, flying around the five-runway platform with vigour and letting loose several high-flying rock and roll kicks.

It was their fourth show of a three-week tour, following dates in Edmonton, Calgary and Winnipeg.

Danko Jones opened the show to a small crowd who arrived early to see the Toronto rocker take the stage around 7:30 p.m.

Jones was followed by Peterborough, Ont.'s Sebastian Bach, the former front man for Skid Row.

An hour after Bach left the stage, Rose, sporting a handlebar moustache and dark shades with his trademark red microphone, opened with the title track to his latest album, Chinese Democracy.

From there, it was the unmistakable guitar riff opening to Welcome to the Jungle that brought much of the crowd, many dressed in vintage leather and old school GnR t-shirts, out of their seats for good.

"Welcome to the jungle babeeee," Rose screeched. "You're gonnnnnaaa diieeee."

It was an arena-anthem filled romp that whipped back and forth from depression and despair to upbeat and soulful -- all to the off-kilter tune and raspy voice of Rose.

At press time, the band was swinging back and forth between old classics and new tracks in a show that was expected to last into the morning.

But what's another hour or two when you've waited almost two decades?

I don't seem to remember how the press received GN'R on their last tours, but I must say it's fucking awesome and well deserved that 100% of the reviews I've read so far are positive.

Some are even ECSTATIC about these concerts!  beer
