I was just told that there was a request by the band to "check phones at the door". I'm not quite sure what that means but I asked for clarification and haven't heard back yet.
I wonder if they're somehow banning phones at the shows?!

I've been getting the updates for gnrevolution.com from Bono & backslash and Bono just reported the same thing.

I would HIGHLY doubt that. That would be utter chaos, to get 10,000 people their phones back at the end of the show. There must be more to the story.

Was it confirmed by a moderator at another forum, who spoke to an intern with the contract security crew? LOL!!!

Bono said they let him keep his phone but he had to leave his camera with them. He has no reason to make it up

That is totally different than what you said earlier. You said: "I was just told that there was a request by the band to "check phones at the door"."
So they didn't do that at all....They took his camera...They probably never asked him for his phone...

As in the guy who's at GN'R show right now enjoying himself and simply mentioned that security asked to see his phone said that the band requested that no cameras of any kind be allowed in the venue.
We've been over this before; probably the venue's own policy and blaming it on GN'R (imo) but it is what it is.

Seems about right. Cameras are being confiscated at every show. After all it usually says "no cameras" on the ticket.
That's fair.

It is standard, happened at the last Springstein show I was at--building policy. They, like with Bono, let us keep the phone, they just didn't want filming. I always hide things if I want to get it in--don't just hold it in my hand basically challenging them to hold it at the door.

That makes more sense. I could see them confiscating cameras. Isn't that a policy at most arenas? I mean, sure lots of people get by with them, but I do believe it's within their rights. And I don't think that has anything to do with Axl or the band either. I didn't mean to insinuate that Bono would lie about such a thing, I know he wouldn't. I just knew there had to be more to the story than them wanting to take his phone from him.

Yes I did, and personnally, I don't care really. NO BANDS will make chek security for cell phones. Everybody has a cell phone. So taking away 15000 cell phones is a total nonsense, and anybody that tries to make you beleive otherwise for any stupid reason or for his own personal agenda against the band (to start rumours AGAIN) is a non sense too!
