I imagine the Mets Vs Yankies rivaly is close to the White Sox and Cubs.

Speaking of which I think my parents mentioned about having tickets to one of those games but I am not sure.

But really, there hasn't been a true "rivalry" between these two, IMO, since Clemens v. Piazza. Since then it hasn't been that exciting.

Some of the so called "regional" rivalries are absolutely laughable, manufactured to benefit the less popular team.

The Mets need the Yanks a helluva lot more than the Yanks need the Mets, same with White Sox/Cubs and Royals/Cards.

Citi Field is packed for what, 3 games a year when the Bombers visit?

As bad as they are (and as much as I despise them) the Cubs sell out every game - not the Sox.

Jesus, the only time the freaking Royals have a packed house is when the Redbirds come to town.

See a trend?

The Cubs stadium is a lot smaller so thats a factor in it.
I know from actually being there.
But the Cubs are not going to win in this years cross town classic!!!

Sure, but it's a small factor at best.

For whatever reason, Chicago is a "Cubs town" and their fanbase (no matter how freaking drunk and acceptors of failure they may be) is much larger than the Sox and their need for interleaugue play to boost interest is nil.

Those sheep (goats?) are flocking to Wrigley regardless...

Hell, do Yankee fans even consider this a "rivalry" or even remotely interesting at this point?

It's novelty baseball to me, winner drinks a keg in the parking lot.

Not to the point of the All Star game getting home field advantage for the WS (don't get me started) but getting close...

Rivalry?  Not really.

Interesting...sure.

And, judging by the chants over the past 2 days...1/2 the crowd are Yanks fans.

Yankees are more popular, there's no debating that.  That's only natural, they've been an elite team for the past 15 years and the Mets... haven't been.

'Rivalry' is too strong a word, but at a minimum I think the fans on both sides care more about the outcome of these games then most other games.  My blood pressure fluctuated way beyond more than is healthy the last 3 nights and, if you recall the way the Yankees and their fans celebrated last year after Castillo's drop, it's quite obvious most of their fans are more invested in these games than they are when they play probably any team other than Boston.  I think there were more Yankee fans at Citifield this weekend then there were at Yankee Stadium a few days before in a series against the Rays, the division leader.

For all the success they have enjoyed, Yankee fans seem to have the biggest case of inferiority complex I have seen.

Hmmm, not sure about that one.

Red Sox fans (some, not all by any means) with their "Must keep up the Yanks" mentality and Cubs fans with the century of losing for sure - but Yankee fan?

Not from this vantage point.

Actually if you have been to Chicago you would see that actually its really basicly cut down the middle between Sox and Cubs.

But the fan base arround the US no doubt that there are more Cubs fans. It kind of pisses me off concidering the fact that the Sox were the first baseball team in Chicago. Fuckin Cubs steal everything except the world series hihi

I wonder if there are any Cubs fans on HTGTH if so would love to hear from you and get a little cross town action!
 ok

Seems to be a lot of players struggling right now you wouldn't expect to be struggling.

For sure, with WGN (an original "superstation") to blame.

As for Albert - it's quite a compliment to be considered "struggling" at like .315.

I suspect he'll end up with a typical Pujols year - .330, 35-40 HR's and 120 RBI, nothing in his prior nine year career would lead one to think anything else.

He'll definitely lead the planet in intentional walks... rant

My fantasy team is loaded, just having a little trouble with production right now. Though I am still leading my league by 10 games (H2H style).

Last night, once AGAIN, Joe West proves that he should spend more time working on his umpiring craft and less time opening his big fat mouth.

The first balk call was, at least, borderline.  Looking at it, I STILL don't think it was, but I think it was close enough to get a call.

The second balk call was not even close.  And the ejection, as such, was unwarrented.  Buehrle had every right to be pissed off, and if West doesn't want to be "shown up", he shouldn't blatantly fuck up a call.

The guy is a jerk and a horrible umpire. He should lose his job IMO.
