I know that I'm a classic case

well the most bizarre thing is that the band in fact had TWO parallel lineup during the mid-1990's. the official one with Slash, Duff and Matt Sorum and the shadow one with Paul Tobias, Sid Ryggs and Krys Baratto, amongst others. I wonder if something like this is actually happening now, too. think about it - official lineup with Slash and Duff plays nostalgia tour and at the same time a shadow lineup is working at new studio things mainly for Axl. but yeah, I quite feel Axl has given up and this might be just an illusion and the only real thing is the nostalgia tour. but we will see peace
I believe is just one lineup, with guest appearances maybe, this is not the 90's anymore and they are more mature and stable people emotionally.

Think about it, Axl has been sitting on 'albums' worth of material cultivated over almost 20 years, yet we have only heard a handful of them (live and official release)... I get that things have been contentious with the label and various management groups but why haven't we heard it yet? Could it be the same reason that Axl had a shadow lineup going in the mid 90's, because he wasn't happy with what the 'main' lineup was producing? Did he lose trust in the CD Era guys? Did he fall out of love with the existing material?

Just spit balling... I hope he solidifies the lineup with Slash and Duff... yet I really appreciate what the CD Era guys did to keep Axl 'in the game'... because of them I saw him perform live several times, and was able to enjoy several amazing recordings. You just have to wonder, why keep everything you have locked in a vault if you are so proud of what you have.

I agree with just about all of this.

I think he had belief and excitement about his first wave of replacements, the 2000-2002 line-up.  Those are the fellas that created most of the stuff he's sitting on.  Had they been able to keep it together, I think we'd have gotten that second album of it by now.

I never got the sense he had the same belief or excitement about the replacements for the replacements.  I think that is why the creation and recording ground to a halt, because he didn't think as highly of that particular gang.  Even so far as to say he didn't want to release that second album of that material with them on it.

I appreciate what those guys did in terms of keeping the band afloat and the name out there.  But I do struggle with this idea I'm supposed to hold those guys in the utmost regard, when it seems not even Axl does.

Interestingly, there's a Guild acoustic on the far left of Duff's bass locker- I'm sure they'll strip it back and go unplugged for Patience, but this may indicate that potential acoustic set.  It'd be neat to see that like they did on the Skin n' Bones tour in 1993.

I guess slash held onto his stuff after all these years maybe he had visions of this happening after all. By the way i find it very funny how every picture posted by slash, duff, guns n roses is a super close up of stuff you never have any idea where they are exactly like a full picture like im playing some distorted version of clue lol.

They kept him just for the tambourine... Dizzy doesn't know how to play one.
