Talking about Tool...

They've played some shows this year already, don't know if they have any more plans.

Wouldn't it be awesome if they joined GN'R if the stadium tour becomes a reality? Yes!

yes, I know they are touring occasionally Smiley but tour with GNR is not possible, totally different styles.

The opening band doesn't have to be in the exact same sub genre as the headliner...

Tool is in the rock/metal main category. It's progressive, sure, but I think there's potentially a big crossover in the crowd.

Jane's Addiction and NIN had a co-headlining tour a few years back which was a success. They're not in the same exact genre.

I don't think it's impossible.

He could be working with Tool... Tongue
wait, I thought they don't record anything since 2006 (and 10,000 Days was the record of the year for me)

They've been working on the next album for some years now.

Yep, and it's like waiting for fucking ChinDem.
However, their last two albums (2001 & 2006) are just delight. I love them.

It would be amazing to see Tool and GNR tour together, but i think It would be difficult. Tool shows have a big production and they may be a bit too big for an opening slot. Imagine Maynard join in on Coma! That would make music history!

nah, Axl couldn't really sing Coma even during UYI tour, that was 25 years ago. he even didn't want to sing it then. so why would he now, with his failing vocals nowadays. and yes, Tool are not a band for opening slots, maybe GNR could open for them hihi

Yeah, it would be great.

I actually don't think a band's normal production is of hinderance either, it could be scaled appropriately for the task.

An example: GN'R has a very big production. Back in 2006 they were scheduled as openers for the Stones. It didn't happen, but if it had, I don't think they would have gone full-scale as with their normal show production. They might have done something a little big bigger than your normal opening band, lending some of Stones' stage elements.

Yeah, could be.
Also, im not sure If Tool would do it. Maybe a show or to, but uf they are touring with an album coming up and new material im sure they dont want to be an opening act. Can u picture Maynard agree tour with GnR? I really dont think so.

Yes I agree, this is mostly a fan's dream and is highly unlikely to happen. My reasoning was most in terms of Tool's size as a band and a potential crossover in the crowd.

If they want to promote the album, I agree they would 100% want to do their own shows.

Stadiums could be tempting for Tool though, even as an opener. If it were to happen I agree the likely thing would be just a couple of shows.

They are too big and too egomaniacal - this is a bad suggestion
