I'm always amazed,and a bit amused when people continue to get so upset about  actual, documented GNR history. 

The circular arguments never end.

I find it equally amusing in a way ...

Neither side of this silly debate comes off particularly well.

It is silly and a non-issue, nobody is saying the original lineup was more prolific, or successful or well known.

Just stating actual GNR history, opinions are great but they don't change actual fact in the formation of the band.

It isn't semantics it is documemented history that some would rather rewrite for whatever reason.

They just didn't start what was... and became what wasn't.

No matter how you slice it up Guns N' Roses is that AFD-UYI era guys. It just is. If people get mad about it then that is on them.

They made Guns N' Roses what it is today. They just did. I don't really hold 1 album in almost 20 years together a "band" really. No disrespect to them they were great. I was lucky enough to see them live too. Without them I wouldn't of seen them live.

Tommy is just as good as Duff in a lot of ways, Richard just as good as Izzy in technical guitar skill, and Buckethead/Thal/Finck etc are technically like Slash.

It wasn't a bad band at all.

They were playing mostly other people's songs though. They didn't really make it their own. 1 album doesn't mean that much. Although it is a great album it was just 1 album over a long period of time with random tours. Overall the post 1997 Gn'R was good, not great when you look at the big picture.

Original members will always have the keys to the legacy, no matter if people want to agree with that or not. They just do.

Big difference in original and classic lineups.

We are GNR geeks here that are well aware of the actual history of the band. You are not entitled to your own facts.

Random Tours? I suggest you look at the touring schedule that Jarmo posted- far from random.

Again not my point... some of what you say I agree with

but you keep bringing up a lot of these things in a lot of different threads that we have been going back n forth on for years and years... and it seems to me you are doing it jsut to get a rise out of people...

We are all on to bigger and better things for GNR coming up this year....

I only bring up purist type of reforms in threads that need it. I'm not trying to start a storm. It is usally Emily's responses that have this dry, no vantage point dribble that are like talking to a wall.

I'm just really excited for the reunion. It's a breathe of fresh air for sure.

But JAEBALL is right that you only consistently bring it up to tweak people.  And Emily does the exact same thing in the other direction.

And...for what?  You are both "right", I suppose, but its just comes down to which perception you feel is more important.  Literal or figurative.

It will never be resolved.

The purist "reform" you speak of has been debated on this forum and others for years, it's a circle jerk and not new, witty or original.

It's more of a regrouping that a reunion IMO, although it could be described as a reunion of Axl/Duff/Slash I suppose.
