The line-up must not be finalized, can't think of another reason for being so coy about the whole thing.

If management has told Chris to be quiet, does that mean that his involvement is also uncertain?

Isn't this rehearsal space at Axl's House? If so then there's no way Axl and Slash haven't met in person. Also, they need to discuss the setlist. They need to open Coachela with Pretty Tied Up! 

I would LOVE to see ''Pretty Tied Up'' back in the setlist, but IMO, there's no greater option to open a show than Chinese Democracy. It has everything. Maybe ''Coma'' could be better, but hey, that only happened ONCE (02.19.92 at the Tokyo Dome)

it would be COLLOSAL, as the very first image of this hybrid lineup,  to have Slash appearing from the dark starting ChiDem at Coachella!

I would love to hear Slashs take on CD...

Don't think so. I think is more about avoiding the media "confirming" the lineup before the official announcement.

Don't think so. I think is more about avoiding the media "confirming" the lineup before the official announcement.

I suspect it has to do with the fact that certain media sites seem desperate to keep the GN'R fans vising their sites by making a new headline every time there's a little hint of GN'R related activity on social media.

Member X tweets something about GN'R -> Site Z: Mamber X confirms.....
Member Y posts photo -> Site ZZ: Member Y has just confirmed....

The thing that seems a little strange to me though, is why Slash and Duff could confirm their involvement straight away while Pitman now can't.

It was mentioned here that there might be negotiations with Izzy and Steven still, but neither of them would replace Pitman's position in the band anyway.

Only thing I can think of is that only Axl, Slash and Duff are 100% confirmed in the line-up at the moment.

Axl, Slash, and Duff were confirmed in the press release, but other than one tweet from each one no one has said anything at all.

I can see there being an actual lineup announcement or interview being lined up and management doesn't want anything said before that occurs.

well, during 2010-2014 tour, Duff already made some appearances with GNR and in later shows he even played whole shows. I don't remember if he was announced as a band member or not. so he's not THAT new in the band and this is only a formally stated return.
