Really, a legit question: "Axl never goes to rehearsals" is treated as a fact by many GNR fans. Where does this theory come from? I looked it up, found a few quotes here and there, but nothing that would turn this into such an estabilished fact.

It's a bit exaggerated. Makes for a better story as usual.

Axl might not be at rehearsal while the band is learning songs or trying to figure out who plays what solo and so on.

We heard him call Trunk from rehearsals in NYC live on air. So it does happen.

No, he said the band played it 2 or 3 times, but that it was his first time singing it in 18 years.

"I don't think I sang that song in about 18 years and I think this might be 34th time it gets played in a couple of weeks"

He says "Third or Fourth" time not 34th.  He then immediately corrects himself to "twice"

But thanks for posting that youtube link.  That was awesome!

I hope we see Axl/Duff/Slash at least throw a nod at each other via social media in the upcoming weeks.

I'd think there is a strong chance that Coachella tied their first public appearance together to their show.
That doesn't make much sense. Them being out promoting it would be far better for Coachella, wouldn't it?

Unless it's for the "mystery" around the show you're going for? But what would be in it for Coachella?

Coachella might be looking for the same thing, ''the first look'' of the three of them together will be a coachella, not in some interview.

Possibly. Coachella was going to sell out regardless. Maybe promotional efforts will be held back until after the festival and before any sort of tour thereafter.

In this particular case, I think the rehearsals are key just so they can all get all the same page.

Got a lot of moving parts here, coming together for the first time at a very high profile gig.  I assume they want to make sure things are tight.

Isn't this rehearsal space at Axl's House? If so then there's no way Axl and Slash haven't met in person. Also, they need to discuss the setlist. They need to open Coachela with Pretty Tied Up!  hihi

Yeah, I stayed up to watch that live, as I'm sure you all did too.

Highlight of the night, I thought.  Really amazing to see.

I would LOVE to see ''Pretty Tied Up'' back in the setlist, but IMO, there's no greater option to open a show than Chinese Democracy. It has everything. Maybe ''Coma'' could be better, but hey, that only happened ONCE (02.19.92 at the Tokyo Dome)

it would be COLLOSAL, as the very first image of this hybrid lineup,  to have Slash appearing from the dark starting ChiDem at Coachella!

I would love to hear Slashs take on CD...

He starts at the top of the stage in his top hat and smoke....

Then runs down kicking all the keyboards out of the way!

I really don't believe any possible scenario right now where Axl and Slash wouldn't have met in person again. Don't think both would agree to get back together again in the band without a personal meeting.

TOTALLY agree.

That would be a great opener.  Would also love "Its so Easy" or "Nightrain."  It would be hard to imagine them not doing "Jungle" first though, Slash hitting the opening notes followed by an Axl scream, the earths rotation might actually stop for a second. hihi
