France qualified for the World Cup and Ireland didn't.
I guess everybody who thought it was wrong know nothing about the sport.

NO! Do not try to twist my words.
In that case you say: France shouldn't qualified. They are cheaters. I say that France qualified...if referee didn't see the hand...sorry for you, Ireland. Do you understand me? Different way to see the sport or the way to win. So, in this case YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND
MY
POINT OF VIEW, not saying that you don't understand football at all.

You see? You think that watch football and collecting cards (oh god, that was awesome
) is enough to know about football.
Watching/following football is not enough to know about it? Why?
I can give you an example about me. I collected basketball card when I was a little (I remember Nick Van Exel card from the Lakers...damn...very hard to find...it was the last card to fill the album) and I admit that I don't know a shit about NBA. But, hey, I'VE COLLECTED CARDS SO I THINK THAT MAKES ME AN SPECIALIST ON THE MATTER. No, kaasupoltin...is not that way.
Yes, but I wasn't talking about collecting cards. I was talking about watching the sport.

Oh wait, I'm not even supposed to know about that!
It happened BEFORE the World Cup. Shit....
Now where's my cards...
By the way, your whole point has been that I know nothing about the game.
You seem to have the same attitude about others that they don't know as much as you because they disagree with your personal opinion.
I'm also awaiting your list of your football credentials. What makes you an expert?

Hey, he took one little thing out of context to "prove his point".
Has he managed to provide any evidence of his theory of what exactly makes one an expert on football?

It's not the same thing.
Both broke the rules and got an advantage from it.
Uruguay was penalized for it as the rules state, but the question all along has been about the ethics of that.
Why do you think I linked to the Fair Play code on FIFA.com? Which I assume was just ignored as usual....

Even a bunch of losers like Finland, who know nothing about the sport, managed to draw twice against the Germans... Weird.
I said to myself that I wouldn't comment about this subject anymore, because when it comes to football discussions, I tend to take things a bit too seriously, and I've already said a lot more than I should, but this argument I quoted makes no sense whatsoever. Firstly because the preliminaries are a complete different thing. Look at Brazil and Uruguay, for example... Brazil ended up in first place and Uruguay almost didn't qualify and ended up in last. And while Brazil took a plane home today, Uruguay is still alive and kicking, literally, ready to go to the semi-finals. And in second place, because the team during the qualifiers is usually slightly different from the one that plays the World Cup. In the 2nd game against Finland, they already knew they were qualified, they had nothing to win, nothing to lose. That's different from a knockout stage in the most important football competition in the world.
I just want to know one thing, Jarmo. If you are gonna accuse Uruguay of cheating (or of not playing according to FIFA's fair play), then how come you haven't accused any other country of that if, in every single game of this World Cup, we had fouls that seemed to be committed on purpose?

Luis Felipe Scolari, aka Felip?o (they guy who coached Brazil in 2002, when we won our 5th Cup, Portugal in 2006 and then Chelsea), is CBF's favorite guy at the moment, to be our new coach. Their 2nd favourite is Mano Menezes (Corinthians' coach), who is not too bad, but also not as good as Felip?o.
Eithet Felipao or Dorival Jr (from Santos and ex-Sport Club Recife!!!!!
) would be good.
Nah, I don't like Dorival that much. He was ok with Vasco last year (could've been better), but I don't agree with some of the stuff he's been doing in Santos. I mean, those guys had everything to end up in #1 with that team in the Brazilian championship before the World Cup began.

I made a sarcastic remark.
Imagine that.
Not everything I say is 100% serious.
I know football is serious business down there, but to me it's a game. Nothing more.

Because some stand out. Some have a bigger impact on the end result.
Some have a bigger impact on me.
Maybe you have enough time to discuss every wrong call and foul in every game with your family, pets and friends, I just don't.

He reffers to history in footbal but let's stick to the topic: Who's the Jarmo candidate to win the World Cup? And who will be the best scorer? (don't worry, you can check your cards
)

I refuse to discuss football with you until you provide me with a list of your football credentials.
I need to know you're good enough to discuss the matter with.
The attitude some of you have is kinda scary. Wonder what other ways you look down on the other people and nationalities on...
Like "You're from that country so you can't know anything about football". Replace football with something else and see how scary it is.....

I admittedly know shit about Football
does anyone have a Youtube clip or anything of the play in question?
I'd like to watch it a couple more times and see what happened.
So explain this to me. What the guy did is like a huge foul/big deal right? I mean it is breaking a major rule of the game?
so it would be like in the NBA someone punching another guy in the face to stop them from scoring the winning basket?
is it that bad against the rules?

I have respect for all South American football teams. It's no secret that Brazil were my favourite team to watch during this tournament.
All of the South Americans on this board seem to think that twisting the rules, to gain adavantage is fine. Maradonas' hand of god and Suarezs' Volleyball debut
, are just a few instances where disrespect, selfishness and unsportsmanship conduct have cost games. God forbid that some people lose respect for these kind of people, who want to see a fair game.
Also, to say that just because someone may not come from a traditional footballing nation who have not achieved as much as your country. That their opinion is not worth as much as yours, just because well, "they don't know about football".
Is both hypocritical and ironic, when the person who supposively "don't know about football" is trying to condone fair play and sticking to the rules, which is what we exactly need more of in this game.

Scary? Why?
Why is it scary to make a generalization based on one's home country and/or nationality?
Think about it.
If you're too lazy to think about it, let me give you an example: You're from the third world, what the fuck do you know about anything?
No, that's
not
my opinion, it's an example on why that way of thinking scares me.
You just assume that because somebody is from country X that they can not know anything about subject Y.
So what's next? You can replace nationality with anything. Gender, religion, whatever you want.
That kind of close minded thinking isn't something I feel has a place here on this site.

Oh ok it's wrong but I don't see why it's scary. Some people tends to generalize, some people don't. I was a victim of generalization a lot of times and is not cool but it happens
Come on Jarmo, there are nations throwing bombs against other nations...get something better to be scared of.
