This was to be expected. Argentina's 70,000 seater sold out, so Brazil was only a matter of time with 15,000.
Wrong. It's only one concert in Argentina, people from the whole country are attending.
In Brazil they're doing concerts in 5 capitals, with a total of 145,000 tickets.
So it was expected that the concerts in Brazil would take more time to sell out.

This are the venues capacity:
Nilson Nelson Gym, Brasilia = 25,000

Mineirinho Arena, Belo Horizonte = 25,000

Palmeiras Stadium, S?o Paulo = 45,000

Apoteose Park, Rio de Janeiro = 40,000

Gigantinho Arena, Porto Alegre = 15,000

Only specific sectors... I think all premium tickets sold out, except for Rio. For Bras?lia, normal standing tickets sold out too, there are only some other kind of tickets, some sort of superior section, not sure if they're standing or sitting.

Manets, I have to correct you: Nilson Nelson, in Bras?lia, does not fit 25,000 people. Venue capacity is around 17,000, including the floor, excluding stage size and the areas behind it.

it was said early yesterday in la W which is a radio station in Colombia that the concert was going to be moved from the Simon Bolivar Park which holds 100.000 to somewhere smaller as ticket sales werent doing so good  nervous

http://www.tuboleta.com/show.asp?code=GUNS ESCENARIO POR CONFIRMAR (Venue to be confirmed)

Metallica sold the most expensive tickets in about 40 minutes.. Guns has not sold out any of the sections.. They also said at the station that el Coliseo el Campin was probably the new and best option http://img75.imageshack.us/img75/917/coliseoelcampin1eh2.jpg

We ll see

Guns N? Roses to arrive with largest technical staff ever in Lima

Lima, Feb. 24 (ANDINA).- U.S. hard rock band Guns N? Roses will arrive to Lima with the largest technical staff ever in the Andean country to offer a concert on March 25.

The staff includes sound, lights, video and fireworks technicians, who usually accompany musicians during their presentations in the most important capitals of the world.

As far as the security measures, the legendary band led by Axl Rose, requested the organizers to have a large number of officers the 24 hours.

Frontman Axl Roses also asked for wines, beers, vodka, red and white roses, and a ?square melon?. As well as in other countries where they will play at, he has requested this exotic fruit that cannot miss by any means.

GNR is visiting Peru as part of their Chinese Democracy South American Tour and will perform on March 25 at the Monumental Stadium Esplanade. Tickets can be purchased at Tu Entrada of Plaza Vea and Vivanda supermarkets.

I just noticed: Rio de Janeiro is the only place that hasn't sold out at least 1 section... Now I'm starting to understand why bands like Metallica, AC/DC and Iron Maiden didn't come to Rio when they last played in Brazil...

But it's good news that the Porto Alegre gig has sold out all tickets! ok

Shows here in Rio almost never sell out weeks before it's due date. It's kinda of a cultural thing around here: most people just buy the ticket around the time of the event. Faith No More last year, for instance: it was sold out, but I'd say that 45% of the tickets were sold on the day of the concert!

But I don't think that the Rio's show will sold out, anyway... I strongly believe we're gonna have a packed Apoteose on march 14th, thought!

Besides that, Apoteose is the only venue with only 2 sectors. Guess around 20% (8.000) are premium tickets and all the rest (32.000) are pista/arquibancada. Naturally, takes some time to sell out that amount. And, as Pimball said, people here in Rio are less worried about doing things fast (unlike in Sao Paulo - no offense please, just a cultural view). We are a bit like baianos (Bahia  - Salvador - citizens).
I bet it'll be sold out just days before the show. Premium tkts won't last too long, though, I think.

Mandy, I disagree. The main reason of many performers not playing Rio is a problem about venues and promoters/sporsorship... We just don't have huge venues available to hold a second brazilian Mettalica, AC/DC, etc show!
Maracana Stadium has soccer games at least twice a week and its administration always put very hard conditions to allow concerts there. Bono once has said on some interview that if U2 couldn't play in Maracana they wouldn't play in Rio, or something like that. And that's what happened on the Vertigo tour.

The only music events in Maracana in the last 20 years, as I remember, were: Rock in Rio II, Madonna (twice), Ivete Sangalo and Roberto Carlos. Not even Santa lands there anymore.  Wink

Engenhao Stadium never has shows, for some reason (blame your Botafogo soccer club for that  hihi).
HSBC Arena and Apoteose are not big enough to hold a second brazilian show of a huge band. If there are five or more shows of certain bands in Brazil, then one of those two would be enough, like it is for GNR.

I think the absence of Iron Mainden here had something to do with promoters issues.

I don't see the "cultural" factor as the main reason for this, but ok. Smiley The fact that, unlike other venues, we only have 2 sectors is coherent though.

As far as the Engenh?o stadium thing goes, I don't know if you know, but its name has been officially changed to Stadium Rio. And the main reason for that change is that they're looking for a sponsor and they wanna make it a big arena for shows and other events (for example, if Pepsi decides to sponsor it, the name will be Pepsi Stadium Rio).
At some point, in the beginning of the year, Paul McCartney was rumoured to come to Brazil and play there. I know Maracana will be closed for a couple of years now, but I don't see big shows being held at Engenh?o - the main reason is its bad location. It isn't the easiest place to get to, and it's a bit distant too.
