It makes sense what HBK says, it's quite likely that GNR not performing in Chile, because of the lack of Stadium, Remenber Coldplay and AC/DC case, they canceled the shows in Chile for that. Everything will depend of GNR managment, they could play in another venue, smaller venue...

Concerts
Apart from the horse racing activity, the venue is also used for concerts, due to the large audience that can attend them and the fact that it's currently the only venue in Santiago that can hold over 30,000 people for a concert (Estadio Nacional was closed for repair and will be re-opened early 2010). The Vive Latino festival was held in Chile for the first time on April 15, 2007, attracting over 30,000 people because of the diversity of artists that performed, as three stages where built up and being used at the same time. British band Keane finished the concert with 18,000 people still at the venue though their performance started at 11:30 p.m. La Cumbre Del Rock Chileno, which is an annual festival that gathers over 50 Chilean acts was held at Club H?pico on January 11, 2009. Bands and artists who have performed successful concerts include Iron Maiden and Jonas Brothers. Each of those bands attracted nearly 40,000 people to their shows. Depeche Mode will perform an almost sold-out concert on October 15, 2009 as part of their Tour of the Universe world tour, as well as Los Fabulosos Cadillacs who will perform on October 11, 2009.

Ah, should've guessed that it's on Wikipedia.  Grin

Just curious why some think there'd be no suitable venue for GN'R in Chile when other bands are playing there.

As I said before, Guns can play at the Movistar Arena, which holds 15.000 people.

The ''no-stadium'' thing could have been a serious problem in Argentina or Brazil, but I really dont know if there are a lot more than 15.000 people in chile willing to see Guns N' Roses live.

Seeing how fast the 3 AC/DC shows at the River Plate Stadium in buenos aires went sold out, I really think GNR can play here two dates at that venue. And CD was gold here, and it was in the top 10 most sold albums for several weeks FYI...

Actually, it went platinum here (+40.000).

I think the Club Hipico is ok for Gn'R in Chile... the Movistar Arena maybe is too small, but who knows...

more problems for Chile: there are allegedly security problems in accesses and emergency exits at the Club Hipico, in Chile. They were reported at recent Depeche Mode and Fabulosos Cadillac's shows there.

We're talking US dollars here, right?  I just want to make sure...

If that figure is correct...I can see why they're reluctant.  Check my math..but $1.2 million divided by 15000 is about $80 a person.  That's pretty hefty for 1 show in terms of "artist cut".  If it's 1.2 million for 2 or 3 shows...that's  much more in line with what I'd expect. $25 to $40, average, per ticket is a bit more customary and reasonable.  If you're saying it's for FIVE shows, that's downright cheap...less than $20, average, per ticket.

Yeah, you can search it at capif.org.ar. Also the press release from bravewords (the one that announced the canadian dates) listed Argentina as one of the countries where Cd went platinum...  beer

I just talked to Mr. Malab, from Malab Productions on the telephone.

He said that they're negotiating with GNR to do 6 concerts in Brazil.

AC/DC sold out the Morumbi Stadium, in Brazil, in less the 1 day. ALL the 72,000 tickets.

More importantly, how can we raise US $1.2M to have them play in my backyard?   hihi

Tell me that wouldn't be an epic night! Who's in?

Too bad big bands can't play in our National Stadium  no, I couldn't afford  this time to travel to Argetina to see Ac/DC...that's too bad!

I pray god we can see Gnr here at the Club Hipico ( at least), Metallica will play there this January too.

If I had the money I'd pay whatever to see them live or just to hang out with the guys  Grin
