Riad.

If The World still has to somehow find a way to grow on me.  If there was a way I could scratch that song off the album, I would.  Bucket's solo saves the song from ruin.

I couldn't disagree more.  IFW is absolutely brilliant to me.  Axl's melodies are absolutely superb and Bucket's acoustic guitar and solo work are amazing.  I love the funkiness of the song, too.

Ali

That was my opinion on the song, I don't know how I could have worded it clearer.

ITW sounds like someone is pinching Axl in his no-no area.

It's your opinion that "If The World" is brilliant?  I thought you said it still somehow has to find a way to grow on you?

Ali

What?  Where did I say that?  Nowhere in my first post, and in my second post I gave you the reason why in my opinion, I do not like IF THE WORLD.

Do not like.

No.

Nyet.

There's a few misunderstandings in this conversation. Read the whole thing, and you'll see.

He disagreed with me, I defended myself and my opinion.

How in the world can that be misinterpreted as me agreeing with him that IF THE WORLD is brilliant?

Why would you ask if you could have worded it any clearer?

Ali clearly understood that you don't like the song, and then disagrees with you.

So many to choose from, but If The World really had some great dynamics in it.

How was I wrong?

I don't know how much time I wanna use to explain the whole thing, since the whole thing is of no importance whatsoever.

At first I just pointed out that the whole thing was a misunderstanding, based on a few poor choices of words. The sentence I marked above made Ali confused, as it's just out of the blue. In the first response he never said anything that would imply that he had misinterpreted you. He just disagreed, that's all.

Then he misinterpreted you, as your statement was a bit unclear on what it referenced to. His, or your original post. ("That was my opinion on the song")

Well, that's enough analyzis for today.   Wink

Back on topic I guess...

I really like If The World, but not the most improved song. For me, that's Riad.

Sorry's outro is monstrous.

+1. I'd give one of my limbs to see Guns do a whole record of songs in the style and feel of Sorry's outro.

The song that has grown the most on me is Shackler's. I hated it the first time. Also Chinese, Better, CITR and SOD have grown a lot on me.

Riad for sure.  Never liked the live boots I heard of the song.  The studio version has grown on me big time though.  To a lesser extent, I always thought "Chinese Democracy" was alright live.  But I love the studio track, especially the intro.  What a GREAT way to start off an album!

Thank you, Spirit.  You understood exactly where my confusion came from Smiley

FankyMonky, you don't like "If The World".  That's cool.  I disagree with the opinion it's not a good song, in fact, I think it is stunningly good.

That's all.

Same for me with Riad... At first I didn't like the "aaah-ah-ahhhhh" but now I think it is a really good hard rock song.   It has kick ass lyrics and I really like the part "oh my salvation, and all my frustration" probably one of my fav. parts from the album.

Also Scraped.  I really like the guitar during the verses.  Axl sings really good on that one too.

I think the reason why so many thought Riad was the most improved song is because of shitty bootlegs quality. People couldnt really listen to the riffs and drum fills - hell, I've seen some saying how Riad was as much electronic as Silkworms! And the song is one of the most guitar driving tracks of the album!

Anyways, I think Shacklers grew on me too. At first, I thought the mix was way too confused. But now I'm dying to listen to them performing it live.

I think that's correct. Altough I've loved Riad since I heard the boots years ago.. and then it was said that it wouldn't be on the album. Well, I'm glad it is!

A lot of people seem to like Raid the most.  I would also have a vote for Shackler's Revenge, as I hated that song at first, but now I love it.  However, I'd be going against my own rule of only one choice

At first I hated "Street of Dreams" (at that time called "The Blues"), it reminded me Oasis, pop band that I've always hated, but with the passage of time it's become in one of my favorites.

Ouch, totally disagree with you there... The 2002 live version w/ the guitars and drums busting in, axl screaming in the middle of the song... Probally the WORST transformation on CD since we first heard it.. I still like the song, but still keep a few early live versions in my rotation

I dunno man, the detroit show was soundboard, plus riad had a monitor mix.... cant ask for much more than that...

Thing about CD, even after a year, it seems like I'm still discovering new things.  I believe this album can grow on a person for a long time.  Not saying it's my favorite song on the album, but the one that has grown the most for me is Prostitute!  I absolutely love that song.  I've always liked Shaklers.  It kinda sounds like a Rob Zombie type of song to me!  I.R.S. has really grown on me also.

I was never a fan of Axl's vocals on the live versions I heard.  Just didn't sound right to me.  Sounds great on the album version though.  Axl's voice undoubtedly sounded better in 2006 than it did in 2002, so hopefully it'll sound better LIVE this time around.
