Chinese Democracy out 2014!

« Reply #40 on: October 22, 2009, 09:24:39 AM »

I'd use that money to go and see the band in some other city. But I think this is great for those who want to be sure to get to the first row..

And some can only see one show no matter what.... You know, they might just be busy.

/jarmo

Yeah I know, and I'm not saying it's stupid to buy this package. I just spoke for myself.

Yeah, I agree.  If this was three years ago and I was flush with cash and not as broke as I am now, I'd for sure go for one of these packages.  But as it's not 2006 and 2009, I'm left with the decision of paying $200 to see two shows (Toronto and London), and if I can swing it later and afford to buy a cheap ticket to Hamilton, I'll do that.  Really would be cool to meet some of the band members if that was actually happening, thank them for the ten other times I've seem them since 2002.  But oh well, I'm sure they're not dying to meet me and would rather have another warm body taking up space at the show.

27 minutes till pre-sale begins! Very exciting!

Cheers,

Andrew

It's hard to compare this package with others, since most of the higher priced packages are for Meet and Greets and not just guaranteed good seats and a gift bag. We'll have to see how they work. It's hard to tell, since none of these have happened yet. I did the backstage/meet and greet with Velvet Revolver a couple years ago. It was well worth the $250. Then again, I hung out with Duff, Slash and Matt for awhile, so of course I was happy. Duff, Slash and Dave each gave me a guitar pick and then we got a picture with the band. The things I least cared for were the pre-party and backstage non-sense. On this particular package it was just sitting in the bar in the basement with other fans with some pop and chips. I guess, just be careful.

Fernando, could you shed any light at all on whether the band has any knowledge of these packages being available? Thanks!

When you think about it, this probably isn't a bad deal for some people. You get a ticket (which could cost close to $100 after all the bullshit fees); a T-shirt (I think I paid $40 or so at the last show); a party (not sure what you get but probably something to eat and drink (which you could tack another $20-$40 on); free parking (ranges from $20-$40); and several incidentals (including possibly meeting band members). I'm not saying it's a good deal for everyone, but  I wouldn't immediately shoot it down.

Hmm I don't think this is worthy... at least for the front row part.

For my personal experience, you can get to the front row without having to wait for hours outside the venue. Just start pushing a bit before open act starts  and voila, you're there.

Prices dictate the market. If they were cheaper then we'd essentially all be going backstage. What a clusterfuck that'd be.

I'm sure the band would not like 10,000 people running around backstage when they are getting ready to melt your faces with some tunes.

Its a hassle for them to some degree. Don't bitch about the prices. Be glad they do it at all. The fact they do it is super cool, IMO.

Good points.

These things wouldn't exist if there was no demand for them.

If you attend a lot of shows and always make the front row, don't care for parking, merchandise or food, then it's probably not for you.

well i'd do it, but my friends aren't as big of fans as i am (+ i know they, like myself are gonna barely have enough $$$ 4 the tickets & hotel fees let alone this kind of package!) ... so i'll just stick with GA  & wait out in the cold 4 a spot up front!  smoking
Yeah I'm sort of in the same boat.  I'd have no problem forking over the money myself, but I know damn well none of my friends would do the same.  But if any of them even had a hint of interest, I'd be all over it.  If they play the US sometime in the near future I'd try my best to go to multiple shows, but if that wasn't possible and a package like this was offered, I may opt for that.

I would buy it if I didn't work for the band.

it's so awesome that they let you work for the band.  what kinds of stuff do you do?

A few things here...

1)Who are you to call him "'Nando"?
2)These "fans" are entitled to their own opinions on what htey want to spend. Not all FANS will spend the $300 for the package. There aren't that many available (I'm sure...) and for some it just isn't a feasible option. Since you're such a big FAN -- buy a ticket and ride your big-wheel on up to Canada. That is, if Mommy lets you.

Just because someone doesn't want to shell out a good amount of money to see a show, does not make them any less of a fan. Some have more money than others and will spend it how THEY SEE FIT. Others value money more and can find more things to spend it on that would be more beneficial to them.

And as for "'Nando" -- do some research and figure it out yourself.

Took the link down from ticketmaster? On the first page, the link to the official website still is running so hopefully they are still in order.

Or maybe they sold out? Anyone have info on this?

Hopefully this gets sorted out, but I am sure you (along with others who purchased) will either get your VIP tickets or refunded and replaced with adequate tickets.

Holy hell, a thousand? Does the package include side stage view and groupies?

I would assume, as of now, that you would. The main indication is that either they sold out, or there is a temporary glitch. There will probably be some clarification soon.
