Nightmare on Elm Street Remake - Yey or Ney?

So, Platinum Dunes is remaking possibly the best horror franchise in the history of the universe... and i'm not exaggerating. Freddy is as big of an icon as Madonna or even Axl Rose, but now, it's not our beloved Robert Englund playing Freddy but instead they got Jackie Earle Haley.
Well, the first trailer already came out, so i'll let you judge for yourselves.
take a look!

Maybe I shouldn't comment, but I don't really understand why they want to remake all of these movies, Amityville Horror, The Shining and so on... for me once I see a film or a series of films in original form, I am familiar with that, and have seen the movie, so why should I want to see someone else remake it 20 or 25 years later
. It almost makes me think these people can't come up with something new, so they bank on a remake. Is it that they are just simply out of ideas?

NAY NAY ANY
No i'm not a huge Nightmare fan, but there is no need to do this... Nightmare is coming off its 2nd most successful movies in the series (Freddy vs Jason)...
They could have easily ran with that, and i have no clue why they didnt....
Same thing goes for Friday the 13th, no need for a remake(although i'll admit it was good)
NOBODY can do Robert Englund justice, and its one thing to remake it once he retires, but its a slap in a face to out him like this

Yes, and it's gotten seriously annoying.
Authors aren't allowed to re-write someone else's book, it's pathetic film writers are able to leech off of another's past success to make a buck.

It looks like theyve got some cool set pieces, and got some cool lighting for atmospherics.
But a trailer can make anything look decent. Freddy sounds like a deranged russian now...thats jsut gay. Roberts voice is iconic.
Once again its a bunch of pretty boys n girls for the main characters, irritating.
The first one had average people but they were great actors/actresses. And of course, a young Johnny Depp played a great role amoungst those characters.
This film may be good...but its gonna be hard not to compare it to the original. I mean not all Nightmare movies are great, alot of them suck. 1 and 3 are very, very good movies though.
Hopes for this film to not suck.
18 Rated.
Good music score to make it atmospheric
No crappy teenage faggotry
No crap pointless yank humour.
I dont want 500 sex scenes and teen sexual tension constantly like they did with the remake of Friday the 13th.
No rushed scenes. i hate it when instead of having a tension build in a scene, like they always get right in the old movies. They piss it away for a few cheap "scare" moments

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH NAY!
Okay at this point in time I understand the remaking of some of these horror series to keep them fresh for generations upon generations. But this is one that can't be done. This trailer looked extremely shitty and the dude playing Freddy Krueger was freaking horrible. I hate it already and I am sure it will be upon the shittiest movies ever. Robert Engluend is still capable of playing Freddy and anyone else doing so is just blasphemy.
And I hate Michael Bey.....because Pearl Harbor really sucked.

Ok so I watched this trailer again to give it another go and it looks even worse now. This dude playing Freddy is a no go! The voice alone is just way too goddamn stupid. He sounds like an old man with no teeth in! I hate it, I hate it, I hate it! Apparently they are playing Fredrick as a "real burn victim" and not giving him the devilish look that Robert Englund had in the first three movies (yes it got lame when he started becoming funny man Fred), but eh...I don't know. Goddamn you Michael Bay, just make your own goddamn movies.

I'll give a big Fuck Nay to remakes overall. They ALL suck. Give us original ideas instead of plagiarizing the past.
