original Dexter/Axl quote:
"In regard to nuGuns, I get that sometimes it helps to be able to clarify. Personally I call this Guns and the Illusions or previous lineups old Guns."

topicwise there are lots of moments where song parts still hit me, but there are many other parts still being annoying to me, too.

if you really need to mark a line between an era and another, I think saying new guns is not a problem. That's the way Axl used it.

but that's not the case in 99% of the cases, much more when it comes from some ethernal whiners and resentful fans.

If Axl thinks this is NOT guns n' roses, he would put ''new guns'' instead of guns n' roses in the band latest album. but that was not what happened.

GNR NOW was specifically and clearly talking about CHINESE DEMOCRACY, so there is no need to say nuGuns, because its obviously used to suggest ''this is not the genuine guns: the real guns is Guns n' Roses, the Guns N' Roses with Slash''

I doubt any band has ever had such a divided fan base but it would appear to be the case for Guns

The first GNR song I ever heard Was "It's so Easy". I was blown away by it. I was about 12 when the song came out and my initial reaction was that it was the coolest thing i'd heard. Everything being played during that era on the radio was bland and then comes this band of misfits to blow everyone out of the water. The band was all attitude. The right band and music at the right time. Rock needed a kick in the ass and GNR was the band to do that. They were the right mix of guys. When a group of guys with different influences can come together and make a sound like that its magic. Going back and listening to it this weekend I still got the same feeling I got as a 12 year old. That song is still and will always be cool.

trust me: the fans that still cant accept that bands change and that GNR is GNR with or without Sla$h (in fact, GNR was born without him and it is still alive without him) is the inmense minority. Obviously, talking about 'real' fans (not people with sporadic fanatism).

I have NEVER, absolutely NEVER seen an AC/DC fan calling Black Ice ''an album from NuAC/DC''. Never seen anybody saying nuRollingStones or nuMetallica, even though Metallica changed McGovney for Burton, Burton for Newsted, Newsted for Trujillo, and Mustaine for Hammett.

Oh, and lets not forget that Guns N' Roses has ONLY ONE original member since december 1991, and Slash NEVER called the band ''new guns'' at that moment.

What really amazes me is how Slash himself calls this band new guns. Did he call ''newSnakepit'' to his group, when he changed every single fucking member from one year to another?

Liar and hypocrite. His ''''''''''''''''''auto''''''''''''''''''''''' biography is simply a science-fiction novel.

....and you've just proven that there also is a huge hostility factor by fans of the post-illusion line-ups not to even fans who are more cool with the classic line-up but even towards band members!! some unnecessary, dont ya think? and that comparing to those bands you've listed was weak, none of them has released an album with only one guy from older line-ups being on there compared to the previous release.

i agree with the poster above with "its so easy", still my fave song of the AFD line-up! there is no song on CD that could hit me like that and i gave that album >100 listenings. some parts there are but unfortunately not whole songs. thats why its not a very good album in my book. please dont get offended, its just my personal view.

i dont really think we should put so much into newguns/nuguns/guns/oldguns... its just a way to show what era of the band youre talking about.  We all know lots of things changed form 1993 til 2001.. even from 2001 til 2009. Like with most of the big bands, there will always be people more concerned about theyr own nostalgic  experience of the music, than the music itself... thats an important aspect of this! "I was 21 getting drunk to GnRs appetite, now im 40, have no life, and dont get the same kind of kick from Chinese Democracy... bla bla bla... it aint that good.. bla bla.. i think many people use the old music as a soundtrack to theyr nostalgic experience..

Except what your saying doesnt apply. The name of the topic is "one of those moments a song hits you a certain way". This is a topic to express what you were feeling when you heard a certain song. Not which songs are better than others?

People who can't enjoy this album are people who hate this line-up of the band, and really for no reason. Therefore they can't see with a clear mind that these songs are awesome work and collaboration from this band !

This comment is what originally sparked this interesting debate.

The poster had a point.  Both Axl and VR have to deal with this, the constant comparisions with  AFD and the original band.  That will always be the case though.

Most GNR songs from all era's have hit me in a different way from time to time.  depends on whats going on around me
