I don't think the placement of the stage has to be related to the shape of the stage.
For example, U2 placed their round stage at the end of the stadium field when they played here. It wasn't in the center.
And I've seen "regular" end stage set ups being put closer to the middle of the floor/field to create a more intimate vibe in the venue.
At the U2 show, they had seats on "three sides" and then standing people closest to the stage. All the people in the those seated sections had great views because the stage was so close.
Instead of having the majority of people seated far away from the action because the stage was in the middle of the field....
You get more of a amphitheater vibe with people closer to you when you do it like that.

Just to clarify this for those who are confused.
GN'R doesn't have a center stage set up as some have wrongly assumed.
GN'R never has had that and it seems like the information given by the Japanese fans was just misinterpreted.
In other words, it won't be a "in the round" thing like some have assumed.

Hmm.... It must be different from 06 to some extent. But I wonder how?
Guess we'll have answers in a few weeks!

Any information about opening band in Taiwan, Japan show?
I asked Korean promoter about it and they said it's not decided but probably GN'R will perform alone.

Are you ready to rock? Guns N? Roses to hit Seoul
--
Access Entertainment, which is behind the show, said in a press release that of all the foreign rock bands it has helped bring to town in the past, none have enjoyed as much attention as Guns N? Roses. Officials believe that the concert will prove to be a satisfying experience for both the older generation that idolized the group in the 1990s as well as the younger generation that has discovered GNR relatively recently.
?Tickets sales have already broken records set by other successful concerts we organized earlier in the year, like the Lady Gaga show this August,? Yvette Moon, a manager at Access Entertainment, said on Monday.

http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2009/11/19/bonnaroo-nails-down-dates-for-2010-festival-june-10-13th/
Looking ahead to 2010, it seems like the reunited Pavement might be destined for a headlining slot (Stephen Malkmus is a ?Roo vet having played the festival in 2006). Phish is also a good bet, as are this year?s Super Bowl halftime performers the Who. And call us crazy, but we?re gonna go out on a limb and predict Guns n? Roses, who have already scheduled shows in Asia and Canada, will bring Chinese Democracy to Tennessee in 2010.

Here in Korea, Dailian News reported today that Guns N' Roses will bring the biggest stage to Korea tour. According to Korean promoter Access, GN'R told them that they'll bring 40 staffs when they made a contract but recently GN'R notified Access that they will bring more than 70 staffs including 13 experts for visual system and special effect along with them. The writer says it is very exceptional case. And 70 tons of equipment will be used for the stage
