Other over-rated acts according to the wise people voting at NME are Metallica, Eminem, Green Day, Coldplay, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Kanye West and U2.  hihi

The top three though are Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance and Lady Gaga.

Eminem, Coldplay, Kayne West, Fall out Boy and Lady Gaga I agree with.  I never even heard of a few bands on that list, so they can't be that over rated.  How are My Chemical Romance over rated?  They aren't big enough to be over rated.  "The Black Parade" is one of the best records of the decade.  Metallica and Green Day are the two biggest rock bands on the planet who just put out 2 of the best albums of their careers...this list is a load of shit.  If Bono would shut the fuck up for 2 seconds it probably would have kept U2 off that list. hihi

It's a shit list voted for by people who think if a band is successful, they have sold out and therefore are uncool.  Tossers, I am sure every small unsigned band would love to swap places with Coldplay, U2 Metallica etc...

- I remember friends who thought they had discovered GnR in 1987 - as soon as other people started liking Appetite, they began moaning that they had sold out, got too popular.

Frankly this paper is so crap, I wouldn't even wipe my a**e with it...

The NME is grossly over-rated as a music magazine.  and I'm not saying that just because I disagree with them on GnR, but their "journalism" has got worse and worse over the years, they constantly go with a hype-hype-hype-hate mentality on bands and can be horrendously bisased and ill-informed.  I havent got my music news from them for years and years.   They usually have a hand in over-exposing bands leading to their over-rating.

gah.

I don't think the list was even 'voted for', probably the opinion of 1 to maybe 5 people who work for NME. Otherwise GN'R wouldn't have made the list since the band isn't really popular or successful these days.

I think NME is all about the latest gimmick....that's all they care about. If you're not one of their latest craze's, then you're nothing.

Hell yeah it's one of my favorite albums ever, and we haven't heard a whole lot of anything from them since 07 or so even from the most obscure blogs

looks more like a list of the greatest acts of the last 25 years if you ask me. you have the greatest hard rock band, greatest metal band, greatest rock band, greatest rapper, greatest pop stars, and greatest pop/punk band.

not a bad list to appear on.

I firmly believe that people who think any incarnation of GN'R is overrated haven't seen them live.

That's actually pretty damned agreeable list!!
Quote

Metallica, Eminem, Green Day, Coldplay, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Kanye West and U2.
With possible exception of U2 I think all  from the quote above are right at home on these lists.

Seeing My chemical romance&Fall out boi rank so high  is something that  alone should fill every music lover's eyes with tears of joy Tongue
Anyone who is over 15 and does not want to start killing a lot of people after browsing through promo pics of My chemical romance simply is not normal  Embarrassed

But ehhhh, maybe the whole concept of an artist being overrated deserves to die. Those most popular/"largest" are by default destined to always do well when picking those most overrated.
EhhhhhhII, pretty much every single artist who has ever died mid-career should earn a high spot on these lists by default.

I totally agree with some of your comments about NME being the one that is over rated. They are the biggest trash rock mag. out there. I would rather read the Enquirer!
