'Seinfeld' cast reunites on 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'

Larry David -- co-creator of "Seinfeld" -- has convinced the four stars of that classic Emmy-winning sitcom to reunite for a multiepisode arc on the upcoming season of "Curb Your Enthusiasm." As David explained at a TCA presser yesterday, "For years, I've been asked about a 'Seinfeld' reunion. We'll see the read-through, parts of rehearsals, the show being filmed."

Seinfeld Reunion Curb Your Enthusiasm Entertainment News 2468097 Jerry Seinfeld is set to appear in five episodes of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" while the other "Seinfeld" cast members -- Jason Alexander, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Michael Richards -- slated to appear in four installments.

And as per David, "The season finale will be about the reunion show. It could very well be [a one-hour episode], but I haven't finished editing it yet. But that's a good possibility."

Seinfeld had a cameo in the Season 4 finale of "Curb Your Enthusiasm." And both Alexander and Louis-Dreyfus appeared as versions of themselves in the second season as the show explored the so-called "Seinfeld" curse.

While Emmy rules dictate that "cameo appearances in which the person plays himself/herself are not eligible for entry" -- such as Seinfeld's earlier unbilled appearance on "Curb Your Enthusiasm" -- these upcoming multi-episode stints will surely qualify.

Playing variations of themselves on the two seasons of "Extras" earned a quartet of stars -- Ian McKellen, Ben Stiller, Patrick Stewart, and Kate Winslet -- guest acting Emmy nods. And Emma Thompson won for guest actress in a comedy series back in 1998 when she played herself on "Ellen" -- the twist there was that she was really an American only pretending to be British.

Perhaps Alexander can finally win an Emmy to go along with his 1989 lead actor Tony Award for "Jerome Robbin's Broadway." He lost seven successive Emmy bids for best supporting actor (1992-1998) for his work on "Seinfeld."

Three of those defeats were to co-star Richards. This will be the first acting gig for Richards since his infamous meltdown at a comedy club three years ago. Richards was the big Emmy winner for "Seinfeld," winning three of his five supporting actor bids (1993, 1994, 1997).

Louis-Dreyfus won on the fifth of her seven consecutive supporting actress Emmy nominations for "Seinfeld" in 1996. A decade later she won the lead actress Emmy for the first season of "The New Adventures of Old Christine." She has contended in that category every year since, including this current derby.

Seinfeld lost five consecutive lead actor races (1992-1996) for "Seinfeld." His only Emmy for "Seinfeld" came as a producer when the show won best comedy series in 1993. David shared in that win and picked up another Emmy that year for scripting the classic episode "The Contest."

The top-rated sitcom took home only 10 Emmys over its nine-year run, despite racking up 68 nominations. "Frasier" eclipsed "Seinfeld" at the Emmys time and again, winning 37 trophies, including a record five in a row as best comedy series.

"Curb Your Enthusiasm" has only one Emmy to show for 30 nominations -- a 2003 directing win for Robert B. Weide. The show has contended five times for best comedy series while David has lost three lead actor races. The seventh season of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" kicks off Sept. 20.

Maybe its just a type of humor you don't understand. It's a bit sophisticated, and if have never dealt with egos such as T.V , movie, or entertainment, "stars" you probably wouldn't get it. Curb your Enthusiasm is brilliant.

Seinfeld was brilliant but it was one of those shows that you either got or didn't. However in my opinion the real genius was Larry David and the seasons after he left wasn't as good.

But i can't wait for the new series of Curb. I love the show already, one of the best around IMO. But this season's arc has potential to be the best yet.

Can't wait

Seinfeld' cast to reunite on 'Curb'

PASADENA, Calif. -- Larry David says the new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, which features a reunion of the Seinfeld cast, will be "tough to beat, I will tell you that."

The arc of the Curb season will present the Seinfeld fab four -- Jerry Seinfeld, Michael Richards, Jason Alexander and Julia Louis-Dreyfus -- as versions of themselves who actually are putting together a new Seinfeld episode.

"You're not going to see a Seinfeld show from beginning to end, but you will see parts of the show," said David, the creator and star of Curb and also the co-creator of Seinfeld.

The real-life David has no interest in a Seinfeld reunion. So wouldn't the Curb version of David have an urge to wreck the reunion, even if it was going well?

"He might," said David, flashing a mischievous grin that cracked up reporters at the Television Critics Association tour.

"My guy might consider wrecking something like that, yeah. I'm not saying he did. We'll see what happens. But my guy could very well wreck it."

David also was asked if Richards' troubles in 2006 -- when he was recorded spewing a series of racial taunts at a comedy club -- will be addressed at all in Curb.

"It's possible," David said slyly.

They actually wanted something else as an ending, seen the episode with the train?

At the end they just walk each in their own direction.

That is people's attitude and it drives me nuts.

why can't somebody  just not like something? How come they have to be not as "Sophisticated" or "look at me, I am the smartest guy in the world because I love this stuff nobody else does and their intelligence doesn't allow them to get it.

I just don't like the 3 main actors..... I don't connect with them or think they are very funny. Jerry is cool but the rest no

Seinfeld is the greatest.  10 years later and it's still the best thing on TV... can't wait to see this reunion!  I wonder how they will handle Richard's racist outburst (considering that interview suggests they may mention it)?  It seems like something you wouldn't want to bring up.

Nah.....in the prior post you made it seem like what you said was a cold hard fact.

Obviously they are YOUR opinions, but for the love of Flea, don't make it seem like your opinions are cast in stone and everyone must abide by them.

OH!  It's funny that you would only like Jerry, considering he was the worst actor out of the four!

I didn't "get" the show either up until two years ago when I was sidelined with a bout of tonsilitis.  I gave the show a chance and I liked it.  The show doesn't even try to be pretentious, unless you think anything associated with Manhattan is pretentious.

Hey!  I was nice!

But just for the hell of it...

The sun is setting in Kentucky.  Another day gives way to night.  After a hard day of running and going to school, we find Donald sitting in his favorite rocking chair on his front porch, shaving a nice piece of wood.  He is joined by his longtime friend Merle.

Donald: Ahh just don't git this here whole Sahhhn-failed thing.  Ain't nuthin' ever happen!
Merle: Yep, I hear ya bud.  10-4.
Donald: If any one of them Yankees come a-down the Mason-Dixon, I'll smack 'em silly with mah hickory stick.  'specially that EEEEEE-layne, missy needs to be taught sumathem manners.
Merle: Can I have suma your chew?
Donald: Yiiiiiiip!  (spits into his favorite spit bucket)

Seinfeld rules. Best sitcom ever. Seriously. Ilove how tehy take stuff from previous episodes and mention it again and again, so only if you've been a fan you'd understand. Like nobody thinks that Seinfeld is funny on the first epsode they watch, but if you keep watching you'll understand what they're talking about (cause you've seen it before) so ou'll find it utterly funny. When people watch only a couple of episode and then stop they'll find it not so good. But if you watch whole seasons it's amazing.

I'll def. watch it.
