GnR were not a hair band, far from it. All the original members would probably be mortified to put into a category like that!! Thats for Motley Crue, Poison & Bon Jovi etc etc!!

back in the day, motley and guns were both very much hair bands. And I'd say motley was by far the best hair band b/c they really set the tone for everyone else, including gnr. They created the formula back then to include a ballad on every hair metal record, and axl even said he got the idea to do nov. rain after seeing tommy lee play on home sweet home.
neither band is a hair metal band now tho, but 20 to 25 years ago of course they were. axl didn't even want players in the band that didn't have long hair or a "look"
