Just a brief interview from the new Classic Rock magazine (August 2009). Every issue, they have a musician put their iPod on shuffle and comment on the songs. This month it was Ron. Cheesy

The songs were:

One For The Road - Judas Priest

"I've got every Priest album. This is off their first album Rocka Rolla. They were a progressive classic blues rock band. And Halford - what a voice."

Ozone Baby - Led Zeppelin

"Got every Zep album on the iPod too. A song off of Coda - and what a skanky bass sound. Niiiiiice."

Dash, instrumental - Bumblefoot

"From the instrumental-mix version of the Abnormal CD. Listening to this, I'm hearing all the little mix changes I wanna make. This stuff is gonna haunt me."

Summer Nights - Van Halen

"Got every Halen album too. This one's off 5150, with Hagar. Regardless of what era and line-up you prefer, Eddie kicked ass throughout on every album."

Great King Rat - Queen

"I've got every Queen album on my iPod. This early stuff on this first album was so raw - you can hear the greatness, everything they were destined to be."

With These Hands - Tom Jones

"That stuff was just pure love laid out there, with courage you rarely come across. Man, I'm totally into it. I'd love to do a song with Tom Jones some day."

I'm sure there are other Tom Jones' out there in the world ... but the "What's New Pussy Cat" Tom Jones IS the one BBF is referring to in this case.

If I remember correctly, someone had posted that at one of the parties after the Osaka show, Ron somehow got Axl to sing the Tom Jones song "It's Not Unusual"

    * BBF takes the mic
    * go
    * t-jonez
    * my world is you
    * dominated
    * kiss the ring
    * what's new, pussycat?
    * i hate me more than i love you
    * delilah
    * ronald's comin' back now
    * BBF says goodnight
    * can't take my eyes off of you
    * (hidden track)

It's okay if he likes Tom Jones.  I mean we all know the man and the words to his songs.  I can say that out loud right?   Grin

I like this what are you listening to also.  I was wondering if I should try Kings of Leon and I saw Richard had it in his cd player so I bought the cd.  Thank you Richard, love them!

Couple of years ago I changed some messages with Ron, I asked him to recommend an album..

"Maybe check out Uncool? Sounds like a metal band with Tom Jones singing - lol."

And his description is kinda accurate, one hell of a album!

Why that should be scary ? It's a nice song. And Axl has a way of breathing fresh air to cover songs. I actually hope he'd perform that on tour..

Really..  rofl has he done that with other people covering his songs ? At least Robbie Williams has sang 'It's not Unusual' on tour.  Yet I haven't heard that Mr Jones would have been doing covers of Robbies songs.

What I meant that in overall Axl is good at doing covers..so I'm not insisting that he'd do Tom Jones song. Just something he feels comfortable performing.

It could be something from David Hasselhoff as well..  Wink After all, Axl seems to be familiar with his material as well..
