Reminds me of an album called Daddy Bug and Friends by Roy Ayers.  Anybody?  Okay, not GNR related there but it's a cute name.  Okay that's probably not very rock n roll either.

Back to Dizzy, wonder if there is a chance his cd will be done by then and if these performances will feature some of his work?

I was pretty stoked to hear this. I'll be in Hollywood on vacation from july 31st to Aug 4th.  ok Already got my ticket for the Viper Room (fucking service charges were almost as much as the ticket!). i didn't want to take a chance on it selling out before i get out there. I wonder which of Dizzy's friends will show up? With the show being in L.A. i'm hoping there will be some cool appearances.  When i lived out there back in '95 i saw the Neurotic Outsiders at the Viper Room a few times. Billy Idol showed up once (really drunk) and did a song with them. Got to meet Duff and Matt. They were cool. They were just wandering around before they took the stage. it was a lotta fun. I'm expecting a good time from Dizzy as well. Anybody ever see him doing his own thing?

I could so use a trip to Vegas. Wish my finances were better right now. Trips out there are so cheap and I still don't dare spend the money.

Dizzy can always get a gig with everybody.

Does that make him a musical slut?   hihi  Come to think of it none of them seem to have trouble finding work.  They're all just sluts.

I think he is just one of those guys that everyone gets along with. I think he just loves to jam.

A little on Dizzy's album, from an interview with Alex Grossi for Icon Vs. Icon yesterday.  Here is some of it....

Icon Vs. Icon: I know you have done some songwriting in the past. Is there a typical songwriting process that you employ or does it vary depending on who you are working with?

Alex Grossi: Ya know, it is really contingent on what type of band that you are in. If you are hired just to come in and play lead guitar or chord guitar or whatever. In that case you just come in, they hand you the song and you just play over it. For example, I just recently worked on Dizzy Reed's (GUNS N' ROSES) solo album. I went in there and he pretty much had all of the guitar parts mapped out and I would just put my own sorta thing on it, contributing a little bit here and there. With a band like BEAUTIFUL CREATURES, where I came in as the guitar player, replacing DJ Ashba, the main songwriter, I literally had to write from scratch with four other guys, what became 'Deuce', our second record.

Icon Vs. Icon: You mentioned recording guitars for Dizzy Reed's [GUNS N' ROSES keyboardist] solo debut and I know Del James [writer and longtime Axl Rose personal assistant] is serving as producer on that release. What can you tell us about this project and any idea on when it may hit stores?

Alex Grossi: I have no idea about its release date. I know that they are mixing it right now. Once 'Chinese Democracy' came out, I am sure it took a little bit of a back burner. Working with Del was great. For a guy who doesn't really play an instrument, he has a really great ear. He will walk into the room and say, "No, no! Do it more like?" and then throw out some crazy analogy that ends up making perfect sense at the end of the day! It was really great working with those guys. As a GUNS N' ROSES fan, and I am sure not too many people will be a fan of me saying this, but it is cool to work on every end of the spectrum. By that I mean, I am working with a guy who was there at the very beginning, Steven Adler, all the way up to the guys who are in the band now. Whether that ties the two things together, I can tell you 100% that it does not, but it is really cool to hear the stories and the history of the band. If you think about it, as far as I am concerned, they are the band of my generation. You had THE WHO, LED ZEPPELIN and THE BEATLES for previous generations. As far as rock bands and anyone that is in their early thirties to forties, our band is GUNS N' ROSES or NIRVANA but definitely one of the two.

I would have to guess that that is Del's addition to that studio.

DC4's JEFF DUNCAN Guests On DIZZY REED Track - July 23, 2009

Jeff Duncan (ARMORED SAINT, DC4) has laid down guitar tracks for the new solo project from Dizzy Reed (GUNS N' ROSES, HOOKERS N' BLOW).

You can hear a new song featuring Duncan on Dizzy Reed's MySpace page.

Duncan will join DIZZY REED & FRIENDS in Syracuse, New York on July 28 and July 29, and back in Hollywood at the Viper Room on August 1.

DC4 is the Los Angeles-based hard rock band featuring Rowan Robertson (ex-DIO) alongside brothers Jeff Duncan on lead vocals and guitar, Shawn Duncan (ODIN) on drums and Matt Duncan on bass. The group recently parted ways with Chavis Records and has begun writing material for the follow-up to its latest release, "Explode". To "turn the knobs to 11," DC4 has enlisted the talents of famed music producer Bill Metoyer (SLAYER, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, FATES WARNING) and is looking to record this fall.
