Still holds up after all these years. I had my IPOD on shuffle over the weekend and the version from the live era came on and sounded great.

It is an excellent video. Well directed.
I also think Estranged was well directed.  smoking

I hear ya....i kinda miss that. The anticipation of something big from your favorite band. MTV was good at promoting world premieres. Back when they played music.

I remember that summer when MTV continued playing the November Rain video over and over! It seemed like they played it on an hourly basis.  ok

I was in middle school when November Rain hit it big and I remember at school dances us guys would always try to fight to find the hottest girl to dance with during the song.  A solid 9 minute reward awaited.

Videos at that time were almost as important as the song. Than MTV started to produce shows and slowly videos became less and less... then they came up with MTV2 for videos...then MTV 2 did shows too and now we have no videos on either channel!

At least we have VH1 classic.....

17 years...!

I was in California on holiday in 1993 when the heavy MTV rotation of November Rain, well lots of GnR really, was going on - being without MTV in Scotland - I was in GnR heaven every day that holiday!  I was used to ranting at Radio 1 (UK) when they only played the radio edit without the killer solo at the end - and here was MTV playing full GnR videos day after day.  ah happy days for the young me!   hihi

Actually it's nothing new...The live performance was filmed where the anually Rockettes Christmas show is performed, Radio City Music Hall..As for the part about renting out the areana and playing live for the "extras", I think that was for the Estranged video....

No, that was indeed NR. Watch Making Fuckin' Videos: November Rain. What you're referring to, there were no extras for that. The audience shots are from a live show.

Simply can't get much better than this!!!

I celebrated by watching the video last evening, great memories for sure.  Our little family had just moved to new digs and we had the cable installer there and it was he who was drifting through all the channels making his final check on a proper hookup, and there it was, the kids could have been screaming for that nine minutes for sure and I probably couldn't of heard them or anything else for that matter.  That day couldn't have been any brighter.  Thanks GNR and Happy B-day November Rain ok.
