Bboth of these albums that have come out in the last year have been called masterpieces and deemed "classic rock n' roll" by Rolling Stone. And there is no doubt that they are both great rock albums. But which is better? For me, it's Chinese Democracy, but 21st Century Breakdown is definately a strong number 2 in rock albums that have come out in the last few years. Which album do you think is stronger, Chinese Democracy or 21st Century Breakdown?

21st Century Breakdown, its sounds like a logical progression from their previous album and you can hear the comfort in their song writing together. It just flows well.

Chinese Democracy wins this, IMO Green Day hasn't had any feeling since Nimrod. I've found the stuff after that pretty uninspired to be honest.

I think "American Idiot" and "Breakdown" are the 2 best Green Day albums. Their song writing blows away anything they did in the 90's.  "American Idiot" isn't just a rock album, its an event, a show, a spectacle.  Same with "Breakdown."

Agreed, although Warning gradually grew on me.

When Green Day get political, its silly to me like when Pink gets political

I just kinda cringe

Dudes who got famous singing about masturbation's views on the world and politics don't interest me.

come on what did the mention masturbation one time in one song?  Green Day album is great, and  I pretty much disagree with them across the board politically...

To start off, I used to hate Green Day. It was only a few weeks ago when I bought their new album on an impulse (Well, after hearing parts of it online first) and wound up really enjoying it. The music is catchy and fun, and the songs tell a story that doesn't get in the way of the music. However, I think Chinese Democracy beats it in terms of sheer musicianship, songwriting, and dimension. 21CB does have a lot of fun, catchy songs, but that's all they are. There are a few little experiments and unexpected songs, but it doesn't compare. Both are great albums in their own respect, though.

I appreciate Green Day's stance on their music and I love how they said FUCK U to Walmart by not censoring it.

There are a handful of GD songs I love

The earlier stuff from Dookie, time of your life, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Jesus of Suburbia and there is another song on Nimrod I think is the album I really love.

Armstrong's "Accent" drives me nuts though

Bono is just a whiny fucker to me.
