MATT SORUM Says Both He And STEVEN ADLER Should Be Involved If GUNS N' ROSES Reunites - May 5, 2009

According to The Pulse of Radio, ex-GUNS N' ROSES drummer Matt Sorum thinks that, if the original band reunites, they should perform with both him and original drummer Steven Adler. "If it's me on drums or Steven or whatever, if it happened, it'd be great, you know. I would actually say to them, 'Hey, bring both of us back,' you know. Let me play the other stuff. We'll have two drum kits. I don't care. If 'Appetite' ('For Destruction', the band's debut) sounds better with Steven playing it, have both guys up there. They can afford it."

Judging from Axl Rose's recent comments about his former band mates it doesn't seem likely that the original band will ever play together again. When questioned about the original band playing together again Rose said, "There's zero possibility of me having anything to do with Slash other than by ambush, and that wouldn't be pretty . . . (original drummer) Steven (Adler) brings assorted ambulance-chasing attorneys and the nightmare of his mother. One gig, or even a couple songs, could mean years of behind-the-scenes legal aftermath."

Matt Scrotum bashes Axl one day, than the next talks like he can just waltz back into the band like nothing.   What a douche.

There should be a whole new thread developed for stories like this.  We should call it "Fantasy Island" or something along those lines.  It will include all of the ex members rambling about their relevance and delusions of grandeur.  Instead of coming up with a new topic everytime one of them opens their mouth about how they should be involved in a reunion that will never happen.  I think Jarmo should create a whole new section for these types of stories, they come up every week...just my 2 cents...

The problem here is that any little comment gets turned into a headline on Blabbermouth. Sure it was kind of a stupid thing to say but he got asked a question and answered. These articles make it sound like he's standing on Sunset Strip with a megaphone campaigning for a reunion.

Ah, a voice of reason.. yes

A hypothetical question gets asked evoking a hypothetical response.

Some of you people never cease to amuse me, the entertainment value of the rush to judge is hysterical...

MATT SORUM Wishes He Was Making The Decisions - May 7, 2009

Drummer Matt Sorum has provided the beats for some of rocks most notoriously dysfunctional bands, first with GUNS N' ROSES and most recently VELVET REVOLVER. The 48-year-old California-native tells The Pulse of Radio things may be different if he were ever given the chance to run things. "Being the drummer in a rock n' roll unit, you know you're not the guy that's making the decisions or you know, which you'd like to be, if you look at a lot of great bands that are out there there's a couple I can name that are run by drummers ? METALLICA, run by Lars Ulrich and a band called U2, run by Larry Mullins. I would like to think, 'If you guys just let me run this band, things would go different,' but it's not the way it is."

Huh OK, I can't really defend that last quote. Matt should think through what he says.

Not that any drummer should be in charge of a band..
'
But..

Hell, that's my favorite quote of the whole thing - at least he'd attempt to step up if given the opportunity.

Sounds like he's a little frustrated with VR and their lack of progress.

Yeah, also has to be frustrating that Slash and Duff are spending so much time doing their own projects.

So when Duff and Slash are out there doing their own things, does it mean Matt is in charge of Velvet Revolver when he's not busy at the clothing store?

When it comes to good bands ran by drummers, how could Matt blank out on Dream Theater?  P.S

This is why I think Dave will become a bigger part of the group, he hasn't been doing anything outside of VR.
