it's because you are still trying to use the old messenger icon or link or whatever, which was disabled when you downloaded the upgrade.
from your START menu ... choose PROGRAMS ... then choose WINDOWS LIVE ... then choose and right click on WINDOWS LIVE MESSENGER and choose SEND TO ... DESKTOP (shortcut)
that'll put the upgraded icon/link on your desktop

I had an MSN messenger one time that u could program a song into everyone on your list and it would play that song when they logged on
now I got some shitty Windows Messenger and when I go to MSN, It feels like learning a foreign language trying to figure out how to DL the new one.

I'm not sure I understand. Are you trying to use the Windows Live Messenger with IE7 instead of IE8?
Maybe (and I'm only guessing) that's the issue? Maybe Windows Live Messenger will ONLY work with IE8.

well now im using an old version of the messenger, and i am using the IE8. but the reazon why i am using an older messenger is because the newest one started giving me problems. so i had the newest messenger and the newest explorer, and thats where the problem started. so i deleted the messenger and installed an older version (to see if that was the problem) but the same thing happened. i think that the IE8 its the one that provokes the problem with the messenger, it doesnt matter if its the newest or an older version.
thanks for trying to help me, and sorry for my english.

can you delete the IE8 and re-install the IE7 too?
I've been trying to research the issue but haven't found any solution yet.
P.S. It was problem itself that I didn't understand. Your English is just fine

My MSN messenger stopped working a few months ago, same deal with AIM.
There's always the web-based messenger, but that thing blows lung chunks. It cuts off half my sentences, and the windows close on me for no reason.
The AIM web messenger just doesn't work for me, period.
I knew all that porno would catch up to me.

It's gonna have a rock n' roll exit. Gonna throw that sumbitch out of a hotel window all dramatic-like.
Cameras will be rolling.
