I grew up around seriously agenda based ideological religious freaks that were TOTALLY unable to accept that theyre point of view was wrong and that the other guys opinion had validity..........this site has gone so far that way it's scary.....
Why is it always scary to be supportive? Why is it considered being a brainwashed freak if you chose to support your favorite band/team instead of supporting those who try to put it down?
What exactly is freaky about being positive?
I've been called a nazi and now a freak. Only because I chose how I run my own site and what kind of people I'd rather have around.
Why is it that those who point out the stupidity of your whining are freaks?
It seems like only those who whine are considered to have "valid points".
Funny how that works. If you point out the opposite, you're an ass kissing nazi.
If you spend time whining about GN'R on a GN'R site, you're a level headed objective super fan.
It's always your kind who are the "normal" ones. You're always the poor victims of the nazi freaks who are scary.
Maybe the real problem is that people like you don't like being told to shut the fuck up and keep your negative bullshit to yourselves?
By the way, maybe you need to realize that we have valid points too?
You know, that we're not interested in having a site full of people like you who only whine, whine, whine. That's fucking boring if you ask me. But no, you can't see any validity in that!
It's like having a party full of people who just whine about the music, the people there, the food, the venue and tell you how much better their party would be, if they just got their thumbs out of their asses and organized one.

If Axl and GN'R is the main discussion topics in the VR section..
It depends on how/why he/they was brought up.
Did someone go fishing looking for reaction knowing their post would be protected under the "Well, this is a GNR board" shield?
Quote from: jarmo on April 01, 2009, 12:47:34 PM
..why do we need a VR section?
It's a tough call, especially when VR seems to be on the back burner. I suspect the
same ridiculous back and forth by the usual suspects would spill into the "Ex Gunners"
section.
Quote from: jarmo on April 01, 2009, 12:47:34 PM
Surely you can see the nonsense in that and understand just why we'd rather keep this section free of those topics?
Of course I do.
Problem is, when
any
topic arises
the same
people come with
the same
repetetive extremist blather baiting the other side invoking the opposite extremist response.
It's all trickle down, a split fanbase with blind loyalty to one side or the other.

Axl is usually brought up once there's something negative about Slash....
It's the general theme.

It's completely understandable that people who support GNR don't want to read negative bullshit about the band. But this thread is more about people who think supporting GNR also means putting a negative spin on anything Slash does (including visiting kids at a school?!?).
Many of you think it's stupid to shit on the current GNR lineup because Slash isn't in it. It's just as stupid to shit on Slash because he's not in the current GNR lineup.

In other words - "the bait". Necessitated by the same people looking for someone to invariably bite.
For every action there's a reaction. The actions seem to be sustained under the "It's a GNR site, the reactions overuled because "It's a GNR site".
It comes down to separating the "Bait" from general praise or critical points of view and the
related replies that follow and the elimination of that element in general.

You gotta love how this thread went from "Slash does something positive" to "Slash is a media whore for doing this" to another pity party for fans who "support" Axl and the current GNR. Well played guys!

Absolutely not.
It's extremist (on both sides) to follow blindly and redirect criticism/blame according to their allegiances.
There's too much Kool Aid and a segment of followers of each seem to be over the legal limit..

It's the Slash fans who'd love to switch focus.
Axl has very little to do with whatever Slash/VR are doing.
If it's not about Axl, then it's about me and how we run this site.
Those two topics seem to be a favorite among the VR fans who frequent this section.

Jarmo, I think what disco12 is getting at is the absolute blind fanaticism of some Axl fans on this site. Some have lost their objectivity. It as is if Axl were to come out and say that the sky was red there would be 10-12 people on here talking about how he was right and the rest of us who say the sky is blue are trolls, non-fans, haters, etc.
I'm all for being a big fan of a band but there comes a time when you have to call a spade a spade.

Focus is switched when bait is laid.
IE.
Slash did something "charitable" or used a "particular producer"..
Bait: He did it solely because he's a "media whore" or out for a "cash grab".
If baiting posts in the GNR section (or any section) such as "Axl is crazy and Chinese Democracy sucks" were allowed don't you think Axl fans would react with "Well, Slash is a liar and Libertad flopped"?
Boom.
Focused shifted.

So?
Seriously, why do you have to be "objective"? We're fans! We're not supposed to be objective. Not even journalists are objective.
And that's supposed to be their job.....
Can you listen to a new track by your favorite artist and be completely objective? Either you hope it'll be awesome or you try to be "objective" and look for faults.
I happen to prefer the first kind of people here.
The kind who don't write off a new band member based on some fucking photos!
This is a rock band, not a life and death matter. So being biased isn't exactly a must.
I don't see any problem with believing in what the band says either.
Being objective seems to be about thinking you know everything, having limited knowledge and judging the band based on the little you know.
The bigger problem is those who cling onto the whole "objectivity" and question everything in the name of objectivity!
You have to question everything, you have to call Axl a liar, because if you don't, you're not a sane objective person.
I don't buy that mentality.
The whole idea that you have to be negative and complain on a fan site is just a waste of time.
If an artists constantly upset your and brings you down, shouldn't you find something that actually makes you happy? Why the fuck would you choose to dwell on shit year after year when the artist only causes you to be upset?

Yeah but not all charities are created equal.
Slash is raising awareness for music programs in schools. So charity functions like these NEED publicity so people become aware of the need and support it. Slash using his fame to help the school and in turn getting a little pub for it is a win win situation.

There is a huge troll thread in Bad Obsession with the Bon jovi vs whoever band.
I know, I will get hugely pissed if I go in that thread so I stay out of it.
U Jim Bob seem to post about Slash JUST to piss people off. U and then Gilee started this entire thing but u were the main catalyst. Had u not posted, this thread would be about a page long with no argument.

The guy even admits hes trolling, yet nothing is done? If someone did this shit in the main section, he would've been banned years ago.
I know this is the "uncool" section, but what the fuck, come on already.
