I cant see the Killer's being an opening act.  based on what ive seen in ireland, the Killers are HUGE and have headlined festivals etc.

They do suck though!

Come to the UK first guys, we will welcome you with open arms!  I know that at least 10-20 of my friends will come and see you, wherever you play, and whoever opens for you.
But of course, the greatest thing would be to come and play just guns n' roses for three hours, play most of CD, a bit of AFD and some UYI songs that would be awesome.

Maybe something like what metallica did; when Death Magnetic was released, they played some shows at the 02's where it was just them, and they played for like three hours, playing a large chunk of death magnetic and a load of deeper cuts and fan favourites (like Jump In The Fire, Stone Cold Crazy).  If Gnr just did a few shows like that in key markets, it would be fantastic.

When I first heard about this I wasn't crazy about seeing GNR at Ford Field but then I remembered Comerica Park. I'd MUCH rather see GNR outdoors than in so I hope that's where they're booked.

I doubt the Tigers let GN'R fans on the field in the middle of the season.

They could during the All Star Break.  Fenway Park has had concerts at that time the last 5 years or so without any problems.  But IF GNR was to play a baseball stadium I don't think it'd be Comerica.

Dave Matthews, Bon Jovi, Aersosmith/Kiss/Ted Nugent & The Warped Tour have played there in the summer. Of all those, I only saw Jovi but I know that was in July. The field was almost completely covered in an elevated steel floor so the field wasn't bothered at all.

I know there have been summer concerts at Comerica, but the reputation the band has makes me think that during the season wouldn't happen.  Let's face it, we are a bit rougher group then DMB fans.

Hey...New York has TWO new stadiums opening in just a few short weeks (though I doubt I could set foot in "Yankee Stadium"...even for my beloved GN'R).

Come to "Tax Payer Feild!"

I realized how much sense it makes that this news came out now.

People are making plans for the summer already, where to go, who to see etc.

So it makes sense to let people know that there might be another option on what to spend their hard earned cash on....

So they don't spend it all on something lame as Poison!  hihi (Sorry all Poison fans).

The Aerosmith/Kiss/Nugent or Warper Tours couldn't have been any worse.

You'd be surprised at the behavior of DMB fans.  I've never been a fan even though it seemed everyone else loved them.  But I went to tailgate at their shows before, with no intention to go to the show mind you.  Anyway, things got crazy in the parking lot.  Cars were turned over and lit on fire.  The night I was there the cops used pepper spray to control the crowd. The next night the shot people with rubber bullets.  So asshole fans come in all shapes and sizes and from all areas.

Its already too late as far as I'm concerned...I've booked up my holidays, festivals and gigs for this year. I can't afford anything else - looks like I'll have to give it a miss this time round.

3) Do what Metallica did with Summer Sanitarium, and take 4 or 5 other well known bands on the road with them, and make this an event, not just a concert.

I was thinking the same thing...bands like Avenged Sevenfold, Buckcherry, The Killers etc... would fit in great on this....Bands theses days usually roll out a festival style tour in the summer...like Cruefest,Ozzfest etc....in order to fill a stadium these days you need a few bands on the bill...unless your Bruce, The Stones, or Bon Jovi(only when he plays in jersey, dont get excited D)

No i worked at a Bon Jovi show at Foxboro, MA back in 2003 and it was sold out 60.000. For yous that don't know Foxboro is 25mins north of Providence, RI. But ppl like to say its in Boston. Its not...its closer to Providence then Boston. I hate when ppl call it boston! lol

Yep, window of oppportunity to change vacationplans has pretty much closed, so here's to hoping I can go see them as much as possible beer
