Id rather have Baz than fucking Bloody Valentine or whoever else they've had
agreed, having Baz open again would be such a  solid choice.
& MBV was possibly the worst opening band i've seen, even though they have a couple songs i can stand - just a brutal live band!

My Bloody Valentine never opened for Guns N' Roses.
hihi my bad; shitty band & shitty movie how could i have mixed the two up?!?

 rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl

thanks for the belly laugh!

Just look the hammerstein shows and so many others shows in 2006.

Tom is saying that it's not fucking My Bloody Valentine.

It's Bullet For My Valentine, and yes, they are horrible.

Would you rather sit through Bullet For My Valentine or a bunch of meatheads abusing eachother while Avenged Sevenfold play?

i dont quite get that statement? meatheads? because m shadows likes to stay in shape? does that effect there music? i never once heard m shadows talk about kicking someones ass, or sing about it. i've also had the opportunity to talk to all of them, & not only were they all really nice guys, but we spoke about guns n roses for most of the time. so not sure what you meant by meatheads. i wouldn't think you were refereeing to there fans since most of them are very young. not to mention mostly girls also. but back to the topic. i  truly believe they are the best choice. if someones gotta i better idea, i would love to hear it. maybe i'm over looking another band.

i dont quite get that statement?

Well, let's fix that.

meatheads?

Yes.

because m shadows likes to stay in shape?

No.

does that effect there music?

If it does, evidently not for the better.

i never once heard m shadows talk about kicking someones ass, or sing about it.

I didn't know he could sing.

i've also had the opportunity to talk to all of them, & not only were they all really nice guys, but we spoke about guns n roses for most of the time.

Well, if you say they?re cool, surely they must be.

so not sure what you meant by meatheads.

Their idiot fans punching and body slamming each other like kids hyped up on pixie sticks who've watched one too many hours of WWE.

i wouldn't think you were refereeing to there fans since most of them are very young. not to mention mostly girls also.

So are fans of the Jonas Brothers.

but back to the topic. i  truly believe they are the best choice.

I think a house DJ with a half-decent record collection is a better choice than Emo/Nu-Metal rehash ok

emo/nu metal? have you ever listened to them? they are one of the most diverse bands out there. & you miss the point of having younger fans at your shows. you gain more fans by bringing in a group with a younger fan base.  &  saying m. shadows cant sing is a joke. one a the few singers out there that has a really unique voice. they have a very unique style. they get compared to guns all the time. they step out of the music boundaries, listen to piece ovf heaven. i'm not trying to convince you or anybody else to like them. you don't like them, & that's fine.  but i'm talking about a band that can really help guns on a successful tour. can you think of a better band that can draw ticket sells, make new fans for guns & actually want to tour with guns? rarely do you get a band as popular as a7x that are willing to basically be a opener. i would like to hear who would be a better fit & why?

Ax7 is an amazing band.

In a lot of ways they resemble GNR. Not only in stage presence but the break downs in some songs and melodic chorus's. If there's a GNR of today it's Ax7. They are just more on the metal roots. But other then that they are the best band 2000 on IMO.

M. Shadows is an AMAZING front man and a great singer. Watch him live, you'll see Axl all over him in stage presence inspiration. (Obviously not saying he's as good as Axl). I'd go to see Ax7 alone let along opening for GNR.

What?

Only thing they have in common with GNR is their name is the first 2 letters of Axl

If they are the GNR of today then music is even in a shittier state than I originally thought.

Agreed. Comparing M. Shadows to Axl is probably the funniest thing I've ever read on the internet.

If you really think M Shadows isn't a good vocalist. I suggest ear training and music lessons.

There are some annoying things they do. But to me it's mostly some of the annoying solos and gimmicky harmony intros.

Look at me with a straight face and tell me that this isn't a good performance aside from a bad mix on the guitars in this version.

Actually it's two shitty bands.

My Bloody Valentine are a great band - Loveless is one of the best albums of all time. Can't comment on Bullet For My Valentine, never listened to them. Last time I saw Guns, what's left of Alice In Chains was the support act, and sad to say, they flat out sucked. The new vocalist was terrible.

Guns really brought it though. Best show I'd seen them do since Bucket left.

they get compared to guns all the time. it's not fair to them, because people automatically get offended. i agree d. the its so easy they did wasnt very good, i went to that show, but be fair slash didnt sound very good either. but weither you like them or not, they are a great choice to play with. & havin a house dj may not be bett than a7x. unless you want half empty venues bad reviews & tour cancelations. already went through that, it sucked. & d made a valid point, just go late if you dont want to see the opening band. but to call a7x & m shadows horrible isnt realistic. i don like ac/dc, bu i would never say they suck, because they don't. i just don't relate to their music therefore i can't  connect to them. but to say they are horrible woul be foolish.

« Reply #1176 on: July 23, 2009, 10:44:11 AM »

I'd like to see Guns stay away from aggressive metal bands as openers at this point.  They should invite someone current that gets or could get mainstream rock radio airplay.  Or a classic rock band to open or co-headline.

My #1 pick right now would be Chickenfoot.  But I would personally also love a show with Kings of Leon, Incubus, Shinedown, hell, even Daughtry would be a good opener.  All bands are on the charts right now and would bring an established audience to the shows.  Everyone loves classic Gn'R, and this would be a great opportunity to showcase CD to a broader audience with one of these bands.  I just don't think that the majority of the audience for bands like Avenged Sevenfold and Bloody Valentine care to listen to songs like Street of Dreams, This I Love and If The World...

i was gonna mention kings of leon. problem is they are way to big to open for guns. idk if there fans would like gnr either. the problem with chickenfoot is i dont know if you gain anymore fans with them. alot of a7x songs are slow. i think your thinking of there screamo stuff. that was a long, long time ago. even when they do the old songs live, he doesn't scream them anymore. when someone ask me to describe a7x i say a cross between gnr & maiden. alot of the same elements for me atleast. but back to the subject, i have thought of a.f.i also, i know davey is abig guns n roses fan, but i think they are way to big.

I know going on late really lends itself to needing opening acts, but to be honest I'd LOVE "An evening with Guns N' Roses" type tour. Wouldn't it be great (assuming they could give 100% every night) if GN'R just came out and rocked through 3-3 1/2 hour sets each night? No opener, just GN'R and all their brilliant tunes, maybe some covers besides the obvious ones.

I mean the "giving it 100%" as a compliment btw. I think the type of show GN'R puts on takes a TON of effort and doing it every night for 3+ hours to their standard would be quite the tall order.
